POSITION STATEMENT:
A Chief Security directs security personal to deliver a safe Guest and Team Member experience while coordinating with government and law enforcement and ensuring compliance with local safety legislation and emergency procedures.
CORE COMPETENCIES/ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Chief Security, you are responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of security personnel, coordinating with government and law enforcement agencies, and organizing patrolling of the property to deliver a safe Guest and Team Member experience. A Chief Security will also be required to liaise with the Centara Safety/Security director on important matters and ensure that resort is in compliance with all local safety regulations and emergency procedures. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
• Oversee the entire Department operation to maintain high standards.
• Monitor the appearance, standards, and performance of the department Team Members with an emphasis on training and teamwork;
• Assist the hotel in complying with Local Fire Safety Legislation
• Ensure the standards of cleanliness and orderliness of all working areas
• Set departmental objectives, work schedules, budgets, policies, and procedures;
• Maintain a high morale and productivity as well as good communication within the department as well as between other departments;
• Have knowledge of the hotel, its services/facilities; ensure Team Members have current knowledge of hotel products, services, and policies;
• Carry out any other reasonable task set by the Hotels Management
• Develop the department procedures and standards; ensure the implementation all department procedures and standards.
• Have a good understanding and ensure the team understanding of the Resort’s emergency procedures, resort security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation and ensure implementation of those related to your department;
• Direct and coordinate the activities of all security personnel, engage in the implementation of safety and security procedures for the department, and provide assistance and advice to other departments in relation to security
• Report hazard issues and follow up to make it done
• Handle guest inquiries, requests and resolves guest complaints using MIR (Make It Right).
• Coordinate with government and law enforcement agencies as necessary
• Manage Team Members performance issues in compliance with company policies and procedures;
• To maintain correct procedures for hotel accounting, credit control and handling of financial transactions, and supply inventory;
• Work in partnership with other departments to ensure guest’s needs are determined
• Be proactive and observant in service to identify guest needs before being asked.
• Inquire as necessary into and report upon any thefts within the hotel using your discretion in connection with any of these matters that you deem should be reported to the police
• Plan, deliver and facilitate regular Team Members awareness training
• Liaise with Departmental Heads to ensure hotel Team Members is aware of their security responsibilities
• Conduct monthly communication meetings and produce minutes.
• Assist the hotel with Local Safety Legislation being specifically responsible for compliance of the security department
• Be fully conversant with hotel Fire and Emergency procedures
• To prepare the departmental budget that correctly reflects the hotel’s business plan;
• Evaluate levels of guest satisfaction and monitor trends, with a focus on continuous improvement;
• To liaise with external contractors, business partners (if any) to ensure service and quality;
• Organize patrolling of all boundary areas, bedrooms, offices, storage areas, public areas, and function rooms
• Prepare incident reports
• Recruit, manage, train and develop the team member in the department;
• Maintain a sound financial business mind-set, effective decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity, leads by example and always looks for self-improvements.
• Be environmentally aware
• Liaise with the Centara Safety/Security director on the implementation of Company Policies, guides, and matters of mutual interest
• Attend training and meetings when required.
• Be fully conversant of company terrorist procedures and convey to Team Members
• Handle equipment, tools, keys and supplies in proper way, kept in good working condition and regularly inspected, ensure the team does the same.
• To ensure maximum cost effective working environment, including manning productivity without effecting service delivery.
• Responsible for management of key control within all departments.
• Monitor staffing levels to meet cover business demands;
• To maintain high visibility with employees and guests;
• Ensure an exceptional level of customer service delivery at all times by providing personal assistance to the guests with a professional, pleasant and positive manner at all times.
• Ensure tours are carried out for the purpose of fire prevention, safe means of escape, & security
• Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair and follow up to make it done
• Allocate work duties to Manager/Supervisor/Team Members
• Develop Manager/Supervisor/Team Members by delegating tasks and then empower and coach them;
• Carry out lost and found procedures
• Manage master keys in his/her possession
