Material Coordination
You will be responsible for material coordination within the lamination department. This would involve working closely with the production schedule, the purchasing department and Composite Foremen.
Ensure safe and efficient storage of all materials in the factory.
Forecast material requirements and coordinate the purchases to ensure a zero hold up to the lamination department through lack of materials.
Control the issuance of materials to ensure that stock records remain accurate.
Keep an accurate record of all stock levels.
Material cost reduction: Our Company’s goal is to reduce our material costs by 15% Annually. This can be achieved by sourcing cheaper/alternative materials and by eliminating waste materials through better process controlling. You will work alongside the Technical/Lamination Manager in this area to achieve this target. Your role will be to not only look for opportunities but also to document these changes / KPIs.
Implement a waste reduction strategy detailing where we can reduce costs and material usage.
Quality Control
Working under the guidance of the Technical/Lamination Manager to focus on Controlling Quality in all areas of the lamination department, with the following goals:
12 month goal to reduce the gel repair work by 50%
Identify defect areas that are repeated and causing many hours of rework and ensure that the root cause is addressed
Implement and control documentation of QC issues with the foremen and Team Leaders
You will be personally responsible for QC of major parts on all boats. This will include Hulls, Decks, Furniture and Floats. You may delegate this duty to others, but responsibility will fall to you.
Improve the level of QC of all lamination parts
Personnel Management
You will be responsible for helping the Technical/Lamination Manager with Factory Human Resource issues and the selection of the potential new employees
Chair meetings with the Foremen/Team Leaders to ascertain any issues or conflicts with meeting targets and deadlines.
Ensure that new employees have had adequate training in safety issues specific to the lamination department.
Assist in interviews and selection of new employees.
Ensure that production hours are 100% correct and chargeable to tasks
Assist in making a comprehensive training program for new candidates to help reduce issues from cumulative bad practices.
Review new applicants and perform checks for potential employment.
Assist with employee performance reviews.
Production process and planning
There are several areas that have shown a need for process review for example; achieving a better quality product through infusion of parts and better understanding by the general workers of the reasons for certain processes.
assist the manager with factory planning for Lean production and meeting schedules
Identify where time is lost or wasted and form a plan of action.
Monitor project tasks and identify what areas are not on target and prepare a solution
A review of working process with team leaders for a Lean approach to working.
Adapt and modify drawings for better understanding by the general workforce. Under the guidance of the Lamination Manager/Design Manager
Liaise with sales team to ensure schedule planning is correct and use the schedule to plan the correct order of work
