The Freight Forwarding Supervisor is responsible for analyzing customer data to design and develop Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) services for meeting customers' needs. He/She supports Business Development (BD) by visiting customer sites and presenting solutions. This position coordinates communications among project and solutions' groups, ensures accuracy of customer solutions' models, designs solutions, and develops and analyzes cost and optimization models by identifying customer business requirements, value propositions, workflows, and processes.
The Freight Forwarding Supervisor will recommend alternative strategies and adjustments, assesses the impact of solutions on SCS operations, and uses modeling software to develop cost-effective alternatives to meet customer requirements and SCS business goals. This position provides project management support (e.g., implementation and work plan development, required changes, project progress, etc.) and interacts with SCS BD Managers, Program and Project Managers, and other SCS solutions teams.
This position will manage a group of specialists and admin staff.
Key Responsibilities:
SCS Business Development Support
•Assists with communicating complex logistics' solutions to customers and sales teams to support the SCS BD process.
•Assists with pricing assumptions, statements of work, proposals, and contracts to ensure proposals, reports, and project documents are clear, accurate, and appropriate.
•Works with SCS Business Development to educate customers on strategic implications of logistics' decisions and options.
SCS Transportation Engineering Knowledge Management
•Contributes to project debriefs to identify best practices, process improvements, and repeatable business models, assist with development of industry-specific solutions' tools, and archive those repeatable business solutions.
•Develops industry solutions' models expertise to ensure input accuracy and solution appropriateness and to evaluate model results for better responses to customers' requirements.
•Contributes to awareness of competitors' approaches for solution design and development to provide industry-specific information and train SCS groups on transportation solutions
SCS Transportation Solution Design
•Analyze customers’ business requirements and identify value propositions of solution proposals for customers and UPS SCS.
•Participate in the development of supply chains and transportation solutions to customers through data analytics, utilization of optimization tools and presentation of solution outputs (e.g., maps, charts, graphics, activity reports for costing, etc.) and recommendations to customers.
•Assists with customer solutions' project designs and development to ensure customer input is included, review plans with customer, and verify customer projects have necessary management approvals for proposed methods and costs.
Contributes to SCS Transportation Solution Costing Development
•Assists with developing data calculations and cost model design criteria to create and execute solutions' cost model inputs.
•Interprets cost model output and recommends adjustments to model output to ensure alignment with customer business requirements and SCS capabilities and business goals.
•Works with SCS departments' staff (e.g., BD and Operations managers, Finance and Accounting, etc.) to develop pricing strategies and target price points needed for winning business and meeting UPS SCS's financial goals.
