The Head of Distribution Strategy & planning is responsible for formulating and implementing policies , schemes and initiatives to drive sales across both bancassurance and agency channels . The incumbent will be responsible to manage the relationship with BIDV Bancas team and ensure smooth functioning of the day to day activities / interaction with BIDV. He or she will assist the CDO with all aspects related to sales planning and strategy including recruitment and maintenance of headcount across channels within the distribution function. He/She will provide analysis on channel activity and productivity to measure against business targets as well as use market and competitive insights to identify opportunities to ensure the company is competing across a number of key performance areas such as recruitment and development, compensation and incentives and sales practices. He/She will be responsible for managing distribution projects as and when required and will be responsible for delivering projects on time and on budget.
Principal Responsibilities:
Design , propose and implement sales policies , incentive plans , recognition programs , contests , schemes across bancas and agency channel to achieve the topline revenue targets
Support the CDO in managing the Bancassurance relationship with BIDV and pro-actively work with the BIDV Bancas team in HO and regions to facilitate and grow the LI awareness , knowledge and sales across BIDV branches
Manage the distribution sales planning and strategy function including but not limited to :
- Annual business planning
- Compensation and benefits planning and reviewing for the bank channel and agency
- Recommend R& programs for the sales force across channels and partners
- Product and promotional planning and scheduling in line with the requirements of the channel and the sales team
- Sales policy related to ICM , agency and other sales hierarchy across channels
- Recruitment planning , implementation and maintenance of front line sales force across channels
- Sales incentives for sales force across channels
Work closely with OP , IT , legal and compliance teams in all matters related to sales policies and sales force enablement
Ensure timely approvals of memos , sales policies and incentive schemes within BML and BIDV and other partners
Assume the champion role in the strategy and development of new sales channels like agency , DM/TM , brokers , GA s and project manage new initiatives within distribution channel
Monitor and report to CDO on quality of sales, sales force effectiveness and share best practices among sales teams
Interface with Regional distribution team in matters related to distribution and sales
Work closely with sales regional heads on implementation of sales policies and plan across channels
Provide reporting and analytics on channels performance within specified timelines
Provide inputs on improving sales force enablement by adopting digital / new age solutions like e-learning, branch engagement system , activity management and lead management .
Work closely with training head on training & development programs for sales channels and partners and provide inputs to improve training effectiveness
Devise and implement Sales MIS , reports and Analytics in co-ordination with the DS team
Head the recruitment function for Bancassurance channel and manage the recruitment team in HO and regions.
Work closely with Marketing team on customer promotion programs and ensure timely approvals and implementation of the promotion programs
Support the CDO in the development of yearly detailed business plans and strategy, planning and development of geographical and channel growth strategy
Own , manage and review the ICM policy and ensure timely execution of all processes and systems laid down in the policies
Provide market insights and competitive analysis on a quarterly basis to the CDO
Monitor, manage, review and report on actual spends vis-à-vis the annual distribution budget across channels

• Possess strategic thinking and change management skills
• University Degree, MBA or equivalent preferred
• At least 10 years of Sales strategy, project management or planning experience, of which at least 5 years are within insurance or other financial services
• Posses strong planning , organising and time management skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Main KPIs ( not exhaustive ) :
BIDV relationship management :
Pro-actively develop formal and informal relationships with key members of the BIDV Bancas team
Skills required : experience in managing bancas relationships , ability to negotiate and get business aligned agreements on policies , schemes / issues , pro-active in managing the governance charter , strong verbal and written communication skills , strategic thinking , Presentation skills
Ability to draft and propose memos to CDO for communication with BIDV Bancas team
Keep the CDO and CEO abreast of all developments / changes / news related to bancassurance segment in BIDV
Lead the discussions , negotiation and agreement with BIDV Bancas team on policies , issues , schemes , DA , governance charter etc and execute within timelines prescribed.
Sales Policy , Incentives schemes , contests :
Skills required : Analytical and Data handling skills , XL skills , knowledge and understanding of incentive schemes designing and costing , written communication skills , planning and organizing skills , execution skills
Ensure timely approvals ( internal and external ) and launch of all policies , schemes / contests for sales teams across channels
Conceptualise , design and implement sales policy , compensation plan , incentive plans , recognition programs , contests , for ICM , Sales hierarchy , Agency , BIDV within approved budgets
Obtain market intelligence and review sales policies and schemes for sales across channels from time to time
Ensure sales contest effectiveness and assessment study and reporting periodically
Sales planning , quality & productivity :
Sales annual planning and revenue projection and phasing for both agency and Bancas
Skills required : Analytical and Data handling skills , XL skills , knowledge and understanding of incentive schemes designing , written communication skills , planning and organizing skills , Presentation Skills
Manage the cost budget for the channels and provide periodic reports to CDO
Review , conduct and report on sales quality parameters defined by the company from time to time
Provide sales performance reports and productivity analysis for bancas and agency channels to CDO across forums / meeting platforms / committees
Recruitment & Projects :
Review and provide reports / information to CDO on agent headcount , activity , productivity , attrition in agency channel
Planning, recruiting and Managing the ICM headcount in the Bancassurance channel through a team of recruitment executives
Skills Required : team management skills , planning and organizing skills , ownership and accountability
Lead and ensure success of Distribution and inter-departmental projects / initiatives assigned by CDO
Stakeholder Management :
Hire , lead and retain the team within the strategy organization with well defined KPIs for each member of the team and regular review of performance
Skills required : relationship management , negotiation skills , ability to work under pressure , execution skills , performance management skills
Pro-actively engage and manage all stakeholders internally including sales leadership in Bancas and agency and other functions like OP , DS , Compliance , legal , product , Finance , Planning , HR departments to implement all initiatives , projects , policies within timelines specified
Gather feedback / inputs / suggestions from frontline sales staff across platforms / forums both offline and online (FB ) and action timely to improve sales results
Plan and organize meetings / forums internally to discuss and resolve issues / initiatives across departments and platforms both online ( FB ) and offline ..
Ability to build relationships and rapport with all key stakeholders across departments
