POSITION PURPOSE
Being one of the University’s key drivers, the compulsory Personal and Social Growth Programme (PSG) is developed and enhanced from the Personal Development Programme (PDP) to contribute to BUV’s missions of developing highly employable graduates who have ethics of kindness and caring, skills in cross disciplines and languages, be innovative, imaginative and respectfully confident with a positive attitude towards continuous learning. The position of PSG Programme Manager is established to manage the overall quality of the programme and students’ participation and outcome quality, design a variety of activities and disciplines within the programme, develop useful materials and ensure the highest students’ engagement in programme through different strategies and approaches.
The position is responsible to ideate new topics, manage and implement the PSG programme in conjunction with all relevant teams that contribute their expertise to the offerings: Career Services, Student Life, Well-being, Student Learning Support, International Mobility and Global Engagement, and Academic Success. The programme would cover a wide range of disciplines, skills and engagement initiatives that helps to turn a student from a teenager to a young adult with the attributes required and desired by the market, locally and internationally, and their future social and personal networks. This role is expected to explore and be observant of the market needs and future skills to design and execute this interesting and engaging 3 years compulsory personal and social growth programme for all BUV undergraduate students across all programmes and majors.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
-Explore local and international market needs for non-academic qualifications, certifications, knowledge and skills from the labour force
-Proactively research and identify future requirements for university graduates and align them with the elements and pillars of BUV Personal and Social Growth Programme
-Develop new courses and training (non-academic), social activities and community engagement opportunities to offer students, both general routes and specific routes
-Embed BUV missions and values in different topics and themes
-Coordinate and work closely with faculty, function teams in Student Engagement Department, Academic Support Department and Registry Services to address and include multiple value-added knowledge and skills into the PSG Programme
-Identify and implement best approaches to motivate students’ engagement and propose appropriate interventions for students at risk of non-completion
-Ensure quality and learning assurance of all elements offered in the PSG programme through assessments, tests, and group projects that require students to practice and thoroughly understand and apply the skills they’ve acquired
-Create and implement a marketing and communications strategy and materials (both content and visuals) to enhance the brand and values of the PSG Programme among the student body, by which to increase their interests and participation level as well as maximising completion rate with the highest credit points possible
-Advise and consult students regarding their PSG journey and support them in achieving the mandatory completion and their PSG goals
-Improve and strengthen the existing guidelines, handbooks and useful documents about PSG, focusing more on the visuals and attractive content of the materials
-Provide training and talks where necessary to educate the concerned stakeholders (students, parents, staff…), promote the programme within the University and in public events
-Work with PSG Admin to ensure all PSG data are up to date every week and semester. Keep track of students’ PSG profiles to make sure they meet the requirements of the programme and provide intervention and timely support
-Work with the Head of Department and ICT Project team to digitalise and systemise the PSG programme and its operations into BUV Student Information Technology System, maximise access to information for students and parents
-Ensure that all initiatives and execution of the activities adhere to established policies, procedures, rules and regulations and within the approved budget
-Prepare periodic reports and newsletter updates for the University and its stakeholders
-Assist the department and the University in other areas when the need arises.
