Quality Assurance Engineer (QA QC, Tester, Automation)

About the platform

The product is a multi-tenanted SaaS platform hosted within AWS. We currently serve tens millions of user requests per day with firm response time limits. The platform contains a mixture of Ruby on Rails services and JavaScript/TypeScript microservices.
The testing framework utilizes:

• Allure


• Capybara


• Docker


• RSpec


• Selenium


• Selenoid


• Xray

Day-to-day, you will:

It is not the responsibility of the QA Engineer to manually, and repetitively test the code created by other engineers. It is the responsibility of the QA Engineer to ensure the engineers follow best practice, and have the tools and guidance needed to deliver quality using test automation.

• Ensure the team are following best practice and always putting quality first.


• Maintain and improve existing automation framework.


• Ensure the agreed QA process and approach, for both manual and automated testing, is followed in order to align with the test & business strategy.


• Ensure testing is designed and executed to a highest standard, according to the product teams’ definitions of done.


• Ensure the team follows a risk-based approach, making risk-based recommendations and decisions on quality, priorities, and releases. 


• Where appropriate, write, develop, and maintain automated Test Scripts within the automation Framework to ensure maximum coverage, quality, and scalability across products.


• Support and practice business and test-driven quality methods to improve the quality of our software.


• Identifying performance issues and bugs and helping to provide solutions to these problems.


• Participating in code reviews and sprint ceremonies.

Your skills and experiences might also include: 

• More than 2 years of QA engineering experience


• Good verbal and written English skills


• Experience writing and maintaining test scripts within an automation framework.


• Experience working with automation framework technologies listed above.


• Experience with AWS hosted solutions would be useful.


• Comfortable working on existing codebases.


• Experience working within Ruby on Rails ecosystem is preferable.
