CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
This position will dynamically lead the project team for the successful implementation of the Demand Reduction and Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Objective of the Saving Threatened Wildlife project, including conceptualizing, designing, developing methodology, analysing consumer and other data, developing strategic partnerships, reporting, and follow-up actions. This position will work closely with project stakeholders including the Government, Civil Society Organization (CSO), and private sector counterparts, the Chief and Deputy Chief of Party, TRAFFIC Vietnam Office Director, technical leads of the other components of the project and the Demand Reduction team of TRAFFIC Vietnam
SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Manage and coordinate the day-to-day implementation of project activities by partners and consultants (as and when required); Oversee and manage the project resources, ensuring that expenditures do not exceed available funds and that deliverables adhere to agreed timelines; Monitor the timely implementation and financial management of any sub-contracts to partners and consultants; Ensure project technical and financial reports prepared following TRAFFIC and donor requirements in timely manner;
• Share good practice with the SBC Community through the SBC Community of Practice and liaise with TRAFFIC’s wider team working on SBC;
• Undertake other tasks relevant to the project as determined by the Deputy Chief of Party and TRAFFIC Vietnam Office Director.
• Lead the development and implementation of a Demand Reduction and SBC Strategy, and work plans and interim milestones to strengthen and sustain efforts to reduce consumer demand for targeted illegal wildlife products particularly rhino horn, elephant ivory, pangolin, tiger, fresh-water turtles and tortoises.
• Coordinate closely with all key stakeholders (national and international organisations) and government agencies to achieve the targets of the DR Strategy, advocate for and ensure implementation of project activities and create synergy and cooperation among project activities;
• Oversee and support implementation of Demand Reduction and SBC strategy, jointly defining/refining tools and methodologies, and overseeing delivery of identified products and assets;
• Actively build and maintain alliances and explore and nurture relationships with relevant groups, organisations, government agencies, private sector, NGOs and others as identified in the Demand Reduction and SBC Strategy and wider work planning;
• Document lessons learned and success factors so that these can be shared internally with other staff delivering demand reduction initiatives in other countries;
• Manage behavior change measurement surveys and research through polling, surveying, and analyses and the use of mass media and social networks; Provide technical support for collecting and analyzing consumer and market data related to the project species.
• Regularly report on the progress of the project to the Deputy Chief of Party and TRAFFIC Vietnam Office Director, and ensure coordinated communication with global and local team members, partners, and wider network, and take responsibility to ensure goals and objectives are met;
