Senior Project Engineer

We are looking for an Senior Project Engineer with Geotechnical and Mineral Engineering back ground and more than 10 years’ practical experience in open pit and underground mining methods, practices, design, development and/or operation. Reporting to the General Manager Operations. The successful project engineer to the role will include:
PROJECT ENGINEERING:
• Train and mentor upcoming professionals and peers.
• Examine mining methods and equipment to optimise open pit and underground projects and drive study work.
• Development of practical, detailed and pragmatic development forecasts based iterative mining scenarios and option analysis.
• Working with other mining specialists/contractors to ensure reserve estimates are following first principals mine design, cost modelling relying on auditable economic evaluations.
• Implement mine planning design and forecast analysis to validate or vary project specifications.
• Where requested, undertake short term secondments for site coverage.
• Deliver mine planning and scheduling options with considerations to overall development and operational optimisation (strategic & tactical).

• 8+ years’ practical experience in open pit and underground mining methods, practices, design, development and/or operation
• Experience with mining enterprise optimisation highly regarded
• Additional supporting qualification in Project Management highly regarded
• Expert in mine optimisation tools (such as Whittle), and mine design and scheduling software (Such as Deswik, Micromine and SURPAC),
• Additional technical qualification or experience in underground mine design and/or (surface) Geotechnical and/or Blast Engineering and/or Survey highly regarded
• Quarry Manager or similar certification highly regarded
• Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering with Geotechnical and Mineral Engineering highly regarded
• Excellent English language skills, (written and verbal)
