Senior Project Engineer

Position Summary
Working independently with general direction from the Assistant Engineering Manager, the Senior Project Engineer&039;s primary duty is to lead a team of project engineer and other cross functional team members in new product development and existing product improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise engineers to follow up product development from initial design stage to mass production release.
Review the engineering documents include CAD drawing, BOM, ECO, SER, etc.
Lead failure analysis within the team and determine the solutions.
Interact with ID to make sure engineering, manufacturing and safety concerns are cleared.
Ensure that the total material cost can meet target.
Develop new construction and or new feature per the input from Marketing and or Advanced Engineering.
Present all the design documents, i.e. Feasibility study report, CAD drawing, FMEA, FEA, Product Specification, etc for design review.
Facilitate project flow including regular contact with other functional team members.
Review benchmark and prototype test data, identify the pros and cons of competitor&039;s tools.
Keep track project schedule and ensure the adherence to milestones; keep Assistant Engineering Manager informed on project issues.
Monitor the performance of project engineer and provide assistants as necessary.
Interact with suppliers to develop part/product specifications that meet performance requirements while also falling within manufacturing process capability.
Prepare the FMEA report based on the quality history, field return report and prototype test data etc.
Monitor to prepare and update product file.

Person Specifications

Experience in Gearbox system & Motor structure is an advantage.
University Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production or other related Engineering discipline or equivalent.
Experience in Plastic Molding & Metal operations.
Able to work pro-actively and effectively, self-starter and hardworking.
Good level of written English, with CET-4 or above is an advantage.
Good communication, listening and interpersonal skills
Familiar with application for safety approval such as UL, CSA, CE, BS, SAA.
Minimum 5 years relevant experience in project follow up in the engineering industry. Working in power tools field is an advantage.
Good computer experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, email communication, 2D and 3D CAD.
Familiar with UG or Pro-E.

Report to Assistant Engineering manager or Engineering Manager

Manage 2 ~ 4 engineers in the project development.

Design a product to be easy for manufacturability
Develop a product on time to meet the delivery schedule and customer satisfaction.
Proactive and ability of this position determine project smoothness.
Design a good product with high performance and reliability according to the specification.
Design a product with lower manufacturing cost and material cost.
