Purpose of Job
Under the supervision of a Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the coordination and supervision of lifting operations within an assigned international project, supervising and coordinating the actions of other Sarens personnel on-site.
Key accountabilities:
Supervision of lifting/transport activities / safety & quality
-Arranges and controls all site attendance by Sarens personnel, including accommodation requirements and access
-Checks equipment and equipment certificates / makes sure equipment is certified during project, taking prompt remedial action where necessary
-Supervises the safe execution of the project on-site and observes the QEHS regulations:
-Performs regular QEHS inspections and submits reports
-Holds toolbox meetings: pre-job toolboxes, heavy lift toolboxes, periodical toolboxes, etc. with own staff, with subcontractors and other on-site personnel where necessary
-Reports incidents, accidents and the potential for accidents in accordance with the Sarens safety policy
-Ensures project execution is done according to technical execution plan/lifting or transport plan/contractual scope/site conditions:
-Daily optimizes work distribution to gain as much efficiency as possible with the available resources
-Day-to-day site supervision
-Provides day-to-day execution plans and keeps them updated (in accordance with the instructions of the project manager)
-Establishes and maintains contact with the client on day-to-day work issues
-Supervises and controls, where applicable, the activities of sub-contractors
-Reports, discusses and solves bottlenecks in the project as a whole
-Responsible for submitting orders for equipment, personnel and transport within Sarens Group so that these can be delivered to the site on time and cost effectively
Work preparation and project follow-up:
-Measures and verifies site data (conducts site surveys)
-Performs work area inspections without overlooking any elements (pipes above/below surface, power lines, objects or buildings that may interfere with lifting, traffic, work of third parties
-Preparation of site according to lifting plan
-Reviews the technical execution file and lift/transport plans; provides feedback to the site supervisor / project manager
-Determines site access requirements and plans accordingly, incl. travel for Sarens staff to and from accommodation
Contract management:
-Checks contracted technical scope, planning and execution meets local conditions for execution reporting areas of concern to the PM
-Monitors the costs of execution and submits regular reports to PM
-Conducts regular checks to identify additional work and costs involved and reports to the PM
-Collects data necessary for the preparation of invoices and keeps PM informed of progress
Administration, reporting & others:
-Provides regular reports on the status of work in progress to the PM or Senior Site Supervisor
-Approves worksheets
-Reports changes and additions to project plans to the PM
-Maintains and completes in requested VCA** documents
-When necessary, acts as a Senior Rigger
