Job Description:
An Engineering Manager is a custodian of staff development and morale while ensuring that the teams are resourced and delivering for our customers. They will be coaching and mentoring no more than 8 direct reports. They are a guide for reports on their career journeys as well as aligning expectations, maintaining morale, facilitating one-on-ones all while providing positive and constructive feedback.
The Engineering Manager will work with the leaders of their Tribe, Product Managers in the squads where their staff work, and other Engineering Managers. They are expected to help identify bottlenecks and roadblocks in the process then endeavor to help clear them. The Engineering Manager will also work with teams to ensure that work is motivating and aspirational to help their staff perform their best work.
Job Responsibilities:
Supports technical leads through sprint prioritization and time estimates/sprint planning.
Supports onboarding and training of new team employees
Provides clarity around the processes and policies of Skedulo for their staff.
Cares genuinely for the health and wellbeing of your staff.
Helps their staff to overcome obstacles, resolve blockers, and complete work tasks.
Manages each sprint and identifies and communicates roadblocks to Product Managers and other stakeholders.
Partner with the Product Managers of their tribe to help ensure team resourcing to successful product delivery.
Leads team meetings and SCRUM stand-ups.
Conducts 1:1s with individual engineers.
Approves leave, partners with other Engineering Managers ensuring adequate resourcing.
Communication & Leadership Duties
Provide goals for the team that inspire but don’t overburden.
Create connections with other teams to ensure alignment across engineering.
Share relevant information from senior leaders and executives to their staff.
Communicate within your team in an effective, clear, concise manner in both written and verbal form.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
Must have at least 2+ years in a leadership/coaching role
Must have at least 2+ years working with the Scrum agile development framework
Must have at least 4+ years commercial experience in a Product or SaaS company
Must have a strong level of verbal and written English communication
Desired Skills/Experience
Experience working with remote and global teams
Preferred candidates will have a team player mentality, quick on their feet, agile, and aren&039;t afraid to speak up and voice their opinion.
Beneficial to have a working knowledge of the Atlassian Suite, JIRA, Confluence and Service Desk, and Salesforce
Preferred candidates will have a high EQ and lead with an inclusive approach
