Purpose of the position:
To prescribe, cast, fit and deliver well fitting prostheses and ortheses, maintaining the mechanical integrity of the prosthesis/orthesis whilst ensuring the clinical needs of the patient are met.
Key tasks of the position:
-To undertake a risk assessment where variations do not comply with standard manufacturing techniques.
-To file all clinical records in accordance with professional standards.To maintain patient confidentiality and adherence to Data Protection principles by ensuring patient records are kept secure at all times.
-Perform other tasks as assigned by the company if any
-To ensure all limbs are ready for fitting and delivery in line with agreed contract lead times and patient appointment schedules.
-To align the prosthesis/orthosis to allow optimum gait for the patient.
-To liaise with the Senior Technical Consultants and provide clear, concise feedback to assist in the manufacture of limbs.
-To ensure that the prostheses produced and prepared conform with the Company’s Quality Standards.
-To lecture/present to P&O students and other healthcare professionals on the professional requirements of the job role, products and techniques.
-To carry out any other duties reasonably falling with the purview of the post.
-To complete all associated paperwork and job sheets accurately, legibly and promptly.
-To produce a well-fitting socket with the requirement of minimum remakes.
-To participate and provide evidence of commitment to continuous professional development.

-To adhere to working practices which conform to meet both the standards promoted by the Company and the requirements of the contract.
-To identify and provide feedback to the Management Team where improvements can be made to the service provision. To act as a mentor and supervise Prosthetic and Orthotic students or other junior members of the team.
-To work within a multidisciplinary team assessing the prosthetic/orthotics needs of patients to include all levels of amputation and complexity of treatment.
-To identify independently or during annual appraisal reviews any personal training needs, and advise the superiors accordingly to ensure continuing both personal and professional development.
-To support in identifying areas which require auditing and work with other members of the team to ensure that the requirements of evidence-based practice and other clinical governance issues are being met.
-To apply good working practices during the casting and fitting process to reduce material wastage to a minimum.

Qualification profile:
Knowledge and experience:
-Good fabrication/mechanical skills
-BSc in Medical Field (e.g. Nursing) or Technical Field (e.g. Mechanical Engineering)
-Technical English and good general English skills
