Take ownership in project development and tooling management. To be the tooling project leader responsible for the success and ongoing control of Plastic, Metal and Rubber Tools. This requires thorough planning, supplier management and control, accurate and consistent communication with the supplier, internal departments, and USA office from released designs to production
The Tooling Engineer is a key member of Nextern Vietnam Tooling and member Vietnam Engineering Team in general, a talented group of professionals who work together to solve problems, reach goals, and deliver products that exceed customer expectations.
Managing and coordinating with suppliers and internal departments to assure schedules are managed to and met.
Work with Agile and Epicor to release part, BOM, drawing, spec and protocols for molding inhouse plastics. Molding team will update result and report accordingly to protocols.
Keep follow up the existing tools life and suggest for the new development based on the client forecast. Also help to maintain the running Tools in good condition.
Carry out other duties as and when assigned by the management.
Aids in resolution of production process problems
Identify project risks and make recommendations to shorten time to production and maximize product output and quality.
Work proactively with the Product Design Engineering team in USA and Supply Chain in terms of research and implementation of global sourcing products for tooled plastics, rubbers and metals to help quote both tooling and part pricing.
To review the supplier&039;s design solution, ensure it can achieve the part design requirements. If supplier suggest changing the part design, confirm their suggestion, and provide the suggestion and analysis report to USA Design Team.
Work closely and independently with product design group, supplier, and sub- contractors in the development of tooled products, including plastics, rubbers, metal and stampings.
Utilizing supply chain and the supplier to manage the sourced components to assure items will be available for the required development and pilot production builds.
Review and release supplier Tool design data (2D, 3D, DFMR)
Cooperate with external component suppliers, assist directly contact suppliers to make prototype, initial samples, and monitor and evaluate suppliers&039; process and a production line and know how to optimize it to maximize output per hour and per day until the launch.
