Part 1: Job Purpose

Establishing and maintains an adequate Management Control framework regarding the Investment operations of the Company, which is aligned with the Company's stakeholders' requirements. Manage the provision of performance data and information through the collation, validation and interpretation of internal and external data.

Responsible for ensuring the reporting and analysis of MBAL’s investment portfolio and reviews the investment strategy, investment guidelines, seeks out new opportunities, and recommends changes in investments to manage risk and generate acceptable rate of return. Further enhance the operational efficiency of the Investment department by clear process description and guidelines and implementation and application of an investment management system. Ensure efficiency and profitability by regularly monitoring economic and capital market movements by preparing monthly investment report, cash flow analyses etc.

Part 2: Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Calculate, monitor, and forecast expected return of each product and present to Executives / Committee members for approval consideration.


2. Uses financial models to project future earning and profit potential and uses this data to inform decisions and proposals


3. Monitor the Company’s investment portfolio to achieve target returns and comply with related rules and regulations.


4. Closely monitor liquidity and amount of cash received for the Company’s investments and maintain the cash at the Company's target level.


5. Monitor, check, and manage subordinates in the reporting line to perform assigned tasks correctly and to achieve set targets.


6. Coordinate with Accounting Department to record and report the investments.


7. Engages in regular research and reading to stay apprised about the state of the economy, global financial markets, and general current events


8. Maintains current knowledge about financial products including bonds, stocks, investments, and trusts


9. Meets with investment teams, including analysts and other managers, to stay up-to-date about market situations and company decisions that may impact one another


10. Maintain an investment management system for organised data gathering from which management information can be compiled


11. Works closely with investment analysts to assess financial information and investment opportunities

Planning and Management

• Participate in setting the annual budget of the Team


• Manage operational costs to stay within the budget and use resources efficiently


• Manage, monitor, and measure performance of the team in accordance with the business plan and the target

Others

• Study, enhance knowledge and follow information, news, updated technology and new knowledge regularly in order to apply with work in the team


• Co-plan or co-develop process/method/procedure/standard of work in the Department in which related staff could perform accordingly


• Set up a work plan, monitor, control, check, and measure performance of activities or projects according to the Company’s policy


• Perform other tasks assigned by a superior

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education level: Education

At least a Master’s Degree in Finance, Investment, or related fields. CFA certification or in progress of is an advantage.

Work experience:

At least 3 to 4  years of experience in Finance and Investment domain for a financial institution (Banking/ Insurance sector).

Skills:

• Have professional skills to perform their work with full efficiency in order to achieve the targets of the Company.


• Formulate action plan, supervise, control, monitor, evaluate, coaching, skills in communication, and coordinator skills.


• Numerate, analytical and methodical; capable of evaluating complex financial information


• Be able to use a computer and basic programs.


• Knowledgeable about capital market, investments and valuations.


• Eager to learn with an understanding of world business and financial affairs and an awareness of trends and current activity in the financial market


• Good judgement and decision-making skills


• Ability to liaise effectively with clients and other organisations


• Confident and positive image


• Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for writing reports and negotiating with clients.
