Automation Process Engineer

The Automation Process Engineer is part of the Automation team and works closely with production and engineering teams to analyze existing machines and processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement solutions to optimize production flow and machine performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Process & Machine Analysis

Support NPI and process/layout changes to ensure smooth material flow and machine integration.
Study and understand current production processes and machine operations.
Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or process improvement.

Process Design & Automation

Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes from concept to scale- up.
Maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and PFEP (Plan for Every Part) program for efficient operations.
Deploy and support physical automation solutions (conveyors, AGVs/AMRs, pick- to- light, automated storage, etc.) to improve material handling and reduce manual effort.

Optimization & Continuous Improvement

Troubleshoot deviations, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions.
Apply Lean/Six Sigma and SPC methodologies for process optimization.
Analyze production data to reduce waste, cycle time, and costs.

Monitoring & Documentation

Track KPIs like handling labor productivity, inventory turns, replenishment efficiency, material downtime, and overall flow performance.
Maintain process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions.

Cross- Functional Collaboration

Work closely with R&D, Production, QA, and Maintenance for smooth technology transfer.
Provide technical solutions and training to operators and technicians if needed.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree or relevant certification is a plus.

Experience:

Proven experience planning/deploying material handling automation, kitting, supermarkets, or internal logistics solutions.
Minimum 3 years in Manufacturing Process/ Automation roles in large labor- intensive companies
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred), and process optimization tools.
Hands- on experience with process modeling/simulation, AutoCAD/CAD, Excel, and statistical analysis.

Knowledge & Skills:

Proficient with MES/ERP/WMS and digital logistics platforms.
Strong problem- solving, analytical, and results- oriented mindset.
Leadership, teamwork, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to deliver training and work effectively in cross- functional teams.
Hands- on, systematic, proactive, and detail- oriented.
Strong acknowledgement of constraints theory, statistical process control, project management, budgeting/cost control, and change management.
Strong English communication.
Adaptable, creative, enthusiastic, and able to perform under pressure.
Chinese speaking ability is a strong plus.
