As a Software Engineer in our Platform team, you‘ll build and maintain the core services that serve as the backbone of the entire Base ecosystem.
Your responsibilities include:

Improve platform performance, system availability and developer productivity through reusable platform capabilities.
Design, develop and maintain core platform services that support every product at Base.
Collaborate closely with product engineers and infrastructure teams to provide reliable platform services for the entire engineering organization.
Continuously improve system architecture, engineering standards and software quality.
Build high- performance infrastructure software such as: Search Engine; Digital Signature Service; Platform- wide Logging & Observability Platform (ELK Stack / Kibana); File Storage & Video Processing Services
Design and optimize distributed systems capable of handling large- scale traffic and data workloads.
Build software capable of operating across multiple cloud environments with high scalability, reliability and performance.

This is NOT a DevOps or Cloud Operations role. You will spend most of your time designing and writing production- grade software that powers our products, rather than operating infrastructure.

We‘re looking for engineers who love building systems that other engineers depend on.
You are likely a great fit if you have:

Solid knowledge of Software Design, Object- Oriented Programming and Backend Architecture.
Professional experience with at least one backend programming language: PHP; Java; Python; Node.js
Strong analytical and problem- solving skills with a passion for building scalable systems.
Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems and Shell scripting.
Experience working with Docker, containerization and microservice architecture.
Familiarity with cloud- native application development and deploying software on cloud platforms.

Experience working with distributed systems or high- traffic applications.
Experience working with one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure or other public/private cloud environments.
Knowledge of monitoring, logging and observability platforms such as ELK, Kibana, Prometheus or Grafana.
Experience designing software that operates across multiple cloud environments (multi- cloud or hybrid cloud).
Experience building infrastructure services, platform engineering tools or internal developer platforms.

Work on the core platform serving more than 60+ million pageviews every month.
Build technologies that enable every product team across Base.
Solve complex engineering challenges involving distributed systems, cloud infrastructure and platform engineering.
