Duties and Responsibilities:
The Materials Program Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling material requirements to support production, engineering programs, and customer demand. This role serves as the key interface between engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, suppliers, and program management to ensure material availability, cost control, and schedule adherence throughout the product lifecycle.
Program & Materials Planning
Monitor material demand, shortages, excess, and obsolescence risks
Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and assemblies to meet build requirements
Develop and manage material plans aligned with program schedules, production ramps, and engineering changes
Cross- Functional Coordination
Collaborating with Engineering on BOM accuracy, part substitutions, and ECO/MCO implementation
Act as the primary materials focal point for assigned programs
Work closely with Purchasing, and Manufacturing to resolve material constraints
Supplier & Inventory Management
Support supplier readiness, capacity planning, and lead- time alignment
Manage inventory levels to balance continuity of supply and cost efficiency
Track and mitigate supplier risks impacting program schedules
Cost & Schedule Control
Identify and drive actions to minimize expediting, premium freight, and excess inventory
Analyze material cost impacts, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction
Support program cost reviews and material budget forecasting
Data Analysis & Reporting
Prepare material status reports, shortage reports, and risk assessments for program reviews
Use data tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.) to analyze trends and support decision- making
Maintain accurate material data in ERP/MRP systems
Continuous Improvement
Support standardization of material planning processes across programs
Identify process gaps and lead initiatives to improve material planning, forecasting, and execution

Education & Experience
Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., aerospace, automotive, electronics) is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field
3–7 years of experience in materials planning, program management, manufacturing, or supply chain
Skills & Competencies
Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with data visualization tools is preferred
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
Strong understanding of BOMs, MRP/ERP systems, and production planning
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast- paced environment
Excellent analytical and problem- solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
APICS/CPIM or PMP certification is a plus
Knowledge of configuration management and engineering change processes
Experience supporting NPI (New Product Introduction) programs
Working Conditions
Occasional travel to suppliers or manufacturing sites may be required
Office and manufacturing floor environment
