MOLD ENGINEER (Purchasing Dept)

JOB PURPOSE:

Mold Engineer in the Purchasing Department is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing mold suppliers to ensure molds meet technical requirements, quality standards, cost targets, and delivery schedules. This role works closely with engineering, production, and suppliers to support new mold development and continuous improvement.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Request and review quotations from suppliers for new mold projects.
Conduct technical discussions with suppliers to ensure molds meet product and process requirements.
Coordinate mold development activities from design review to mold delivery and qualification.
Analyze mold costs and propose cost optimization opportunities.
Monitor project timelines to ensure molds are delivered according to production schedules.
Support mold modification and improvement to enhance product quality and production performance.
Negotiate with suppliers based on technical understanding.
Identify, evaluate, and develop mold suppliers based on technical capability, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
Follow up mold trial results and work with suppliers to resolve technical issues.
Work with internal engineering teams to optimize mold design for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
Track mold project budgets and ensure compliance with cost targets.
Support supplier selection and participate in supplier evaluation and audits.
Review mold design, drawings, and technical specifications before mold fabrication.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mold specifications.
At least 5 years of experience in mold engineering, tooling engineering, or mold sourcing.
Experience working with mold suppliers or tooling manufacturers is preferred.
Good speaking and written skills in English.
Consistent, detail- oriented, analytical.
Strong knowledge of mold design, mold manufacturing processes, and materials.
