Main purpose of the job
A primary focus is the strategic control of fabric consumption throughout three critical stages: costing, fabric booking, and bulk production approval. The manager actively drives cost- efficiency while ensuring technical precision, particularly in handling the complex shrinkage requirements of Denim products.
The Pattern & Consumption Manager leads the pattern team at Evolution Enterprises to ensure the highest standards of garment construction, fitting, and material efficiency from development to bulk production. This role is crucial in managing the entire technical lifecycle: from initial sample development and fit approval to final production patterns & markers.
Organisational structure & reporting
Direct line reporting: Sales Manager.
Collaboration: Daily cross- functional collaboration with Sales, Technical teams, Planning, Sample Room, and direct communication with Clients/Factories.
Team size: Manage a team of 5 Pattern Makers and 2 Marker Makers.
Primary accountabilities & responsibilities
Pattern Development & Technical Leadership
Act as a technical consultant during the R&D stage, providing feedback to Sales, Sample Room, and Clients to optimize garment construction.
Lead the pattern department from the development phase through to fit approval and final production- ready patterns.
Apply expert knowledge in Denim shrinkage management to ensure garment measurements meet client specifications after complex wash processes.
Utilize Gerber Accumark (2D) proficiently and preferably Browzwear (3D) to create and adjust patterns.
Strategic Consumption & Marker Control
Optimize marker efficiency to minimize fabric wastage, which is a vital component in reducing the cost of sales for Denim products.
Control and approve fabric consumption at all stages: initial costing for price quotations, fabric booking for procurement, and final markers for bulk cutting.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Maintain detailed technical documentation, shrinkage reports, and consumption logs.
Negotiate and persuade clients or factories regarding technical changes, construction methods, or consumption adjustments.
Establish clear and transparent communication paths with cross- functional teams and Sample room to solve technical issues during the sampling process.
