Position: School Nurse (Maternity Cover)
Reports to: Operations Manager and School Leader Team
Working hours: From 8.00AM to 5.00PM, Monday through Friday

JOB PURPOSE
The School Nurse plays a vital role in safeguarding the health and well- being of students and staff within the school environment. This position ensures the provision of immediate medical care, promotes health education, maintains a safe and hygienic school setting, and collaborates with families and external health agencies to support holistic student development.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Emergency Care & First Aid
- Maintain all first aid equipment, ensuring the nurse’s room and field trip kits are fully stocked and ready for use.
- Arrange for ambulance services or professional medical support when necessary, ensuring safe transport to the designated clinic.
- Provide immediate assistance to students or staff experiencing illness or injury, including those affected by unexpected hazards on campus.
Health Monitoring & Safety
- Conduct head lice check and notify parents with appropriate treatment recommendations.
- Promptly inform the Principal of any contagious illnesses to facilitate timely communication with parents/families.
- Perform regular health and safety inspections of the school environment, report concerns to the Principal.
Medical Administration & Record Keeping
- Administer medications based on written instructions from parents.
- Ensure the overall health and safety of students on school premises, including administering medication or emergency care when necessary and feasible after consulting with parents.
- Stay informed about student allergies and be prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Maintain accurate records of all accidents and treatments in the designated accident report book and communicate details to parents.
Health Promotion & Collaboration
- Assist with school admissions and marketing activities when required.
- Maintain comprehensive records of health- related issues.
- Provide health education guidance and support to staff and students.
- Communicate and consult with parents regarding student health concerns.
- Collaborate with external health agencies to ensure optimal care and support for the school community.
- Promote the general health and well- being of all students through proactive initiatives.
Professional Development
- Stay updated on current practices and developments in school nursing.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Work with the Principal and teaching staff to support the development of Personal, Social & Health Education programs.
