Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Role Purpose: The SEN Teaching Assistant supports children and young people with additional learning needs to access education, therapy, and daily routines in a safe, structured, and inclusive environment. During the start- up phase of the Centre, the role may also include contributing to wider centre operations under the direction of senior staff.
Core Responsibilities – SEN Support:
Support positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction
Assist with the implementation of individual education or support plans (IEPs / BSPs)
Support personal care, hygiene, and daily routines where required
Prepare resources and learning environments as directed
Provide 1:1 and small- group support to students with special educational needs
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
Maintain clear and professional records and observations
Support learning, communication, regulation, and independence across activities
Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and centre policies at all times
Additional Responsibilities – Start- Up Phase
(Under guidance from senior staff and subject to training)
Assist with basic administrative or organisational tasks as required
Support centre operations during enrolment and induction periods
Contribute to a positive, professional, and welcoming centre environment
Support preparation of learning spaces and therapy rooms
Assist with welcoming families and directing them to appropriate staff
As the Centre grows, the role will increasingly focus on direct student support

Qualifications & Experience:
Ability to speak English
Relevant qualification, e.g. BA Degree in English, and experience in education, SEN, childcare, or related field
Experience supporting children with SEN (preferred)
Willingness to undertake training related to SEN support and safeguarding
Skills & Personal Attributes:

Ability to follow guidance and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
