Role Overview: We are looking for a visionary and hands- on Academic Manager to lead our Academic Programs. In this "Player- Coach" role, you will not only manage high- quality academic operations but also step into the classroom to teach and inspire. You will drive the "Safety – Fun – Growth" philosophy within the academic team, ensuring that our students don&039;t just pass exams, but develop a lifelong love for learning.

Key Responsibilities:
People Development & Quality Management
Quality Assurance: Conduct supportive observations for new teachers and bi- annual evaluative observations. Monitor student engagement, pass rates, and feedback to ensure "Excellence" is maintained.
Train & Mentor: Deliver on- boarding training focused on the Total Framework (Safety- Fun- Growth) and andragogy. Provide ongoing coaching, remedial training, and professional development (CPD) sessions (2- 4 times/year) for teachers and Teaching Assistants (TAs).
Foster Culture: Create a supportive environment where teachers feel valued and heard, utilizing student and manager feedback to drive performance.
Recruit & Retain: Join the CEO in finding like- minded educators. Conduct interviews and assess trial teaching to build a team that aligns with our values.
Teaching & Student Engagement
Student Success: Oversee student placement testing and track progress to ensure students are placed correctly and moving toward their goals.
Inspire in the Classroom: Teach approximately 9 hours per week, acting as a role model for teaching excellence in classes.
Lead Academic Clubs: Develop and facilitate meaningful extra- curriculars such as the Read to Lead Club or Debate Club, creating a fun environment for students to practice language skills.
Program Development & Innovation
Innovate Curriculum: Apply the "Simple IELTS" philosophy, ensuring lessons are not just test- prep but promote fun, growth, and lifelong learning.
Bridge Programs: Create a smooth curriculum transition (Pathway) that bridges Senior English into IELTS, broadening students&039; horizons beyond just the test.
Holistic Integration: Work with the Beyond Academic Department to co- develop programs that connect academic skills with life skills, referencing the "My Ikigai" framework.
Operational Excellence
Compliance: Maintain the Teachers&039; Handbook and ensure compliance with Total’s policies and high standards.
Teacher Support: Be the "go- to" person for teaching materials, methodology inquiries, and daily support. Ensure teachers have the resources they need to succeed.
Marketing Collaboration: Provide creative academic input for marketing campaigns, events, and articles to showcase TOTAL’s academic quality to the community.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience:
+ IELTS 8.0+ (required to effectively mentor IELTS teachers and teach high- level classes).
+ Extensive experience teaching IELTS and Senior levels (Grades 6- 12).
+ Minimum 2+ years in an academic management or senior teacher role.
- Skills:
+ Proficiency in tech tools (e.g. Google Workspace) is an advantage.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills to bridge communication between BOD, teachers, and parents.
+ Strong capability in curriculum design and teacher training.
