Adjunct Lecturer - English for Academic Purposes

- Faculty members utilize expertise in foreign language instruction, curriculum/materials design, and language proficiency assessment to teach all linguistic modalities: listening/speaking, reading, grammar, and writing in a student-centered, communicative language learning environment that is focused on learner outcomes.
- Faculty actively participate in an EAP community of practice, sharing in and contributing to a congenial and innovative second language acquisition environment.
- Faculty will teach English as a second language (ESL) courses in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program.
- Faculty are expected to be able to integrate instructional technology in the classroom and in homework assignments in order to enhance instruction, extend teaching/learning opportunities beyond the classroom, and to prepare learners for the academic rigors of general college and university settings.
- Faculty complete administrative tasks with attention to detail and deadlines; administrative tasks require comfort with word processing/spreadsheets, the use of a web-based LMS (D2L) and accessing curricular content on the Broward College intranet (SharePoint).

• Designs a variety of assessment strategies, both formative and summative, to allow students to demonstrate the applied learning skills.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/institution.

• Advocates and creates positive, effective classroom management
• Creates a student-centered working environment that fosters positivity and creativity
• Complete other duties as assigned.
• Uses emerging technologies in the learning, teaching and assessments
• Works to create an enthusiastic and dynamic learning environment where every student can learn
• Creates exciting and dynamic learning opportunities in the subject area.

Minimum requirements:
• *Applications who do not meet the minimum requirements will not be considered for this position. Open for Expatriate.
• Able to acquire governmental permissions to live and work in Vietnam if not a Vietnamese national.
• (Preferred) Graduate Degree in TESOL, Linguistics, ESL,
• Currently living in Vietnam
• TEFL/TESOL certification (CELTA, Trinity certTesol preferred)
• Bachelor&039;s Degree in TESOL, Linguistics, or Bachelor’s Degree in English, English Education, ESL, or Bilingual Education with demonstrated competency in TESOL.
• OR Graduate Degree in English, English Education, Bilingual Education with demonstrated competency in TESOL OR Graduate Degree AND 18 graduate credit hours in TESOL, Linguistics, ESL or English, English Education, or Bilingual Education with demonstrated competency in TESOL.
Other requirements:
• Ability to use the most current technology in an effective way, to build communication, planning and instructional tools
• Ability to deal with a culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse group of students and parents a must.
• Must participate in professional development courses aligned with the school and direct initiatives.
• Teaching experience in a college or university is preferred
• A passion for the subject and an ability to engage the students in the process of learning
• Must be willing to work closely with instructional committees in order to research, plan, and develop new and exciting ways to enhance student learning
• Proven to work to create a learning environment where students learning needs can all be met.
• Competence in a variety of learning techniques with an ability to use them to enhance the student’s learning
Salary, start time and benefits
• Salary rate will be negotiable.
• This is an adjunct position and will be offered on a term-by-term basis
