The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Coordinator involves supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral development of all students in the areas of self- awareness, self- management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
SEL Curriculum (30%):
- The goal of social- emotional learning is to teach students the essential skills needed to cope with their emotions, emotions of others, and the world around them.
- Social and emotional learning curriculum is the integration of SEL skills and strategies into a pre- existing curriculum.
- Demonstrated mastery of proactive and responsive intervention is important as well as the pedagogy that supports student engagement, differentiation and inclusion.
- Demonstrated success leading adult learners in data- based decision making within a multi- tiered system of support is also critical.
- The SEL Coordinator supports the design and implementation of the social emotional learning curriculum, standards, instruction and assessment, delivers and supports professional development for teachers, is a lead support to instructional coaches and interventionists and a teammate to mental health teachers and support staff.
SEL Teaching (30%):
- Provide academic and social- emotional learning instruction throughout the school day, giving students the opportunity to learn and practice SEL skills along with academics.
- Proactively identify ways to increase inclusion opportunities for students.
- Directly teach social and emotional skills, emotion regulation strategies, and conflict resolution skills to individual students and small groups.
Psychological counseling (20%):
- Gather and analyze data to monitor student progress towards goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to understand student needs, identify appropriate interventions, and modify curriculum for students as needed.
- As needed, meet with parents, counselors, and agency representatives regarding SEL or behavioral issues.
SEL activities (20%):
- Engage in ongoing professional development and stay current with SEL research and best practices to be implemented in the classroom.
- Joining the school programs/project about SEL activities.
- Working time: Monday – Friday.
