Job Title: Assistant to Camp Director / Program Manager
Classification: Seasonal
Reports to: Camp Director
Position Purpose
To further TOTAL EDUCATION’s mission by planning and delivering high- quality program activities and events for our seasonal camps. Design and implement safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities. Support the Camp Director in overall operations and ensure that programs reflect the core values of Safety – Fun – Growth.
Essential Job Functions
Deliver a Meaningful and Fun Program to Campers
Coordinate with the wider camp team for special events, assemblies, and performances.
Evaluate and support staff in effective program delivery.
Measure program impact on student growth (skills, confidence, teamwork).
Prepare and implement lesson plans aligned with campers’ age, abilities, and TOTAL EDUCATION outcomes.
Ensure activities are progressive, inclusive, and reflect our educational philosophy.
Maintain Safety and Educational Quality Standards
Assist in delivering staff training focused on safety, fun, and growth.
Monitor adherence to protocols by both campers and staff in all areas.
Provide and uphold clear safety guidelines for all activities and equipment.
Manage Facilities and Equipment Related to Program Activities
Conduct and supervise daily inspections of program areas and tools.
Ensure all spaces are clean, safe, and organized for effective use.
Supervise and Support Camp Counselors
Offer constructive feedback, coaching, and evaluation.
Guide and oversee the work of Camp Counselors.
Share observations and performance concerns with the Camp Director.
Create and Oversee Camp Schedules and Records
Design weekly camper activity schedules and group rotations.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and feedback related to camp programming.
Coordinate staff scheduling for program delivery and special events.
Other Responsibilities
Offer ongoing creative input to enhance the camper experience.
Communicate clearly and professionally with all team members.
Provide mentorship and presence during full- camp activities, night events, and field trips.
Attend and actively contribute to leadership team meetings.
Equipment and Resources
May include but not limited to: classroom supplies, sports equipment, art materials, digital devices, first aid kits, and camp- specific tools managed under TOTAL EDUCATION’s inventory protocol.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Outdoor/Physical Education, Youth/Child Development, or a related field.
Proven experience in managing or directing educational or experiential programs.
Strong background in outdoor curriculum planning and activity design.

Willingness to live onsite during camp duration.
