Cacao Plantation Manager

What You Will Do

« Marou Faiseurs de Chocolat » was created in 2011 by Samuel Maruta and Vincent Mourou. In 2015 they meet Xavier and Huyen, owners of a large 400ha concession with 150 hectares of primary forest in the region of Lam Dong, Vietnam. Since 2015, we’ve planted together nearly 10 hectares of cacao in an Agroforestry system. Our aim is to show that cacao can be grown with good results in an agroforestry setting and be economically viable. We plan on making a great tasting chocolate from this cacao. You will be requier to:
• Monitoring all activities and events at the agroforestry cocoa plantation (9ha).
• Manage the day-to-day work of the salaried field workers (2 to 4 people), plan future tasks, and report back to management with progress reports
• Implement Marou’s and Tu Nu’s strategy, and communicate technical instructions to the field team
• Supervise and participate in the technical work (planting, pruning, clearing, irrigation, phytosanitary treatments, harvesting ...)
• Oversee maintenance of irrigation systems
• Monitor plant conditions on a daily basis while sharing observations with permanent and seasonal staff
• Guarantee safety and good working conditions for your team.
• Give weekly feedback to management on all issues related to the project.

• Experience in agriculture/agroforestry 
• Experience in team management
• Organized, versatile, results-driven, proactive, dynamic, autonomous with very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Word and Excel experience
• Good English speaking skills (or French) and Vietnamese 
• In good physical condition 
• Great attitude towards others and your work
• Starting date: As soon as possible 
• Place of employment: Tu Nu Plantation, Lam Dong Province (Camp)

You will be advised by Marou project leaders, and Directors from Tu Nu on approach, strategy and objectives that need to be achieved for the year. As the Field Manager, you take pride in organizing tasks, and communicating well with management and field workers to ensure sure that everything is running smoothly as we reach our goals.
