POSITION PURPOSE
The Career Services Officer (Career Consultant) is responsible for developing, coordinating, delivering, and measuring the impact of personal career service initiatives. Together with the Career Services & Industry Relations Team, the role’s ultimate purpose is to provide careers and employability information, advice, and guidance to students so that they are ready for the world of work, make informed career decisions, and develop suitable career strategies for themselves during university years and after graduation. He or she is also responsible to provide excellent customer service to our students, alumni and partners at British University Vietnam. The role is subject to change depending on the needs of the University.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Career & Employment Services
- Coordinate the implementation and performance of various BUV career advice and consultation services provided by internal and external consultants, advisors, mentors, and partners.
- Proactively explore students&039; skills enhancement areas and propose initiatives that serve instant and long- term students’ employability and personal development.
- Conduct online and in- person personal career consultation appointments with students about their career orientation, career planning, development of employability skills and overcoming issues that could undermine their career success, determining students’ interests and abilities using a wide range of methods and assessments (Holland Code, Indigo, DISC, etc.), interviews and materials.
- Act as the primary contact point for any questions related to personal career services provision, such as career consultation appointments, internship advice, CV review, interview tips, psychometric tests, and so on.
- Provide students with job and internship support, including creating useful reference materials (documents, podcasts, videos, etc.); accompanying students throughout the journey, and providing consultancy to help students with internship choices, internship ‘hunting’ strategy, CV review and feedback, interview tips, mock interview, job description analysis, professional etiquette, and any other question related to internships. The support might be delivered by online/ in- person appointments, phone calls, and emails.
- Assist the Manager in developing, delivering, and measuring the impact of new personal career services initiatives, using technology to enhance and scale up service delivery.
- Continuously improve self- knowledge about the labour market (new occupations, trends, recruitment practices, etc.) and new generation’s characteristics to provide appropriate, practical and useful advice to students.- Deliver e- learning courses, online and in- person activities on careers and internship- related topics, such as writing resumes and cover letters, successful job interviewing, self and career exploration, employability skills, career planning, etc., in creative activity formats and deliveries.- Assist to operate other careers and employability activities where necessary.
Operation & Administration- Together with other team members, be a Career Services & Industry Relations representative to promote and increase awareness of students, employers, lecturers, parents, and other stakeholders in and out of BUV Campus about the services&039; presence and values.
- Administration: Assist in the administration of the operations of Career Services in charge.
- Database: Maintain and improve the consultation’s case notes, internship placement database that enables capturing student’s development journey and collaborations between the university and industry partners
- Ensure accurate and timely updates of personal career services…via Emails, Website, Facebook and Notice Boards.
- Record & Filling system: Maintain and update the record and filing system of each student’s personal development portfolio and career progressions, job postings, employer contacts, industry partners, etc.
- Customer Services: Ensure quality customer services & timely responses to a variety of written requests from students and parents for information relating to career services via telephone, correspondence and/or electronic mail
Others
- Assist the department in preparing periodic reports and newsletter updates for Management and the University
- Participate and support other extra- curricular activities of the department
- Assist the Student Engagement Division in other areas when the need arises
- Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
