Position Title: Communications Officer

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
The main function of this position is to communicate TRAFFIC in Viet Nam’s efforts to the public, partners, and others, and to manage the creation of communications materials to serve this purpose.
The Communications Officer is expected to implement a wide range of communication activities under the leadership of the Office Director in liaison with TRAFFIC staff in Viet Nam and Cambridge, UK to ensure effective communications at multiple levels:
With society at large including the private sector, project target audiences, and the general public.
With principal partners in non-governmental organisations, government agencies, academics, industry, donor communities, and other stakeholders;
Within the Vietnam and global TRAFFIC/ WWF network, TRAFFIC GLO;
SPECIFIC DUTIES
The main tasks of the Communications Officer include, but are not limited to the following:
• Design/develop high-quality communication materials (press releases, briefing papers, brochures, fact sheets, presentations, etc.) to distribute to external audiences;
• Contribute creative ideas to meet and report project objectives;
• Strengthen relationships with media representatives to acquire more exposure for projects and alert media about project activities;
• Identify and engage influential communications agents of change;
• Support video production;
• Manage and archive all communication items and links;
• Administer TRAFFIC’s Facebook, YouTube accounts, and other social media tools;
• Liaise with TRAFFIC’s Head of Communications to develop cohesive, impactful communications plans for all projects;
• Liaise with Office Director and TRAFFIC’s Head of Communications to continually update and improve communications plan and strengthen TRAFFIC’s media reach both in Viet Nam and internationally;
• Provide support to drafting, editing and designing technical reports to donors and other TRAFFIC reports or publications;
• Attend team meetings, providing progress updates and deliver communication materials as per agreed deadlines and expenditure;
• Stay informed of NGO communications trends, particularly with regard to conservation and wildlife trade;
• Report on communication matters to relevant staff and Office Director when required.
• Undertake other tasks relevant to projects as assigned.
• Assist the Office Director and Programme Managers in proposal development for TRAFFIC Viet Nam.
