Data Catalog Professional (Data Modeling, SQL)

Responsible for for developing and maintaining data catalog, ensuring data assets are well- organized, accessible and effectively governed under VIB frameworks and policy standards. This role requires a deep and strong understanding of data management principles, metadata, and data governance practices.

Ensure metadata is accurate, consistent, and easily accessible to users
Apply processes for discovering and documenting new data sources and assets
Create, maintain, and update a comprehensive data catalog that includes metadata, data lineage, and data classifications
Manage and standardize metadata across various data sources
Provide training, coaching, and support to colleagues on data governance best practices, tools, and techniques in term of data access and utilization
Evaluate, implement and optimize data catalog tools to meet organizational needs
Stayed up to date with industry trends and best practice in data management and identify opportunity for improvements

Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels within the organization.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast- paced environment.
Compliance and data security: Understanding of regulations related to data security and privacy
Experience: 3+ years of experience in data governance or similar role within the life insurance industry or other relevant financial services sector.
Bachelor&039;s or Master&039;s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
Technical skills: proficiency with data catalog tools (e.g., Glue, Alation, Collibra, Informatica), SQL, data modeling, and ETL processes
Strong analytical and problem- solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
