Data Engineer

Our vision is to transform SSI into a data led organization by providing the tools and platforms to drive insights to enable informed strategy, investment and operational decision making.
Bringing together multiple teams across the business, the Data Governance, Engineering and Analytics team under the Digital Transformation Office has recently been formed with a mission to deliver on the vision.
To deliver SSI's data vision, we have identified new roles which will have significant influence and impact in shaping the future of SSI's data and analytics capabilities.
Ideal candidates can come from diverse backgrounds such as Financial Services, FMCG or Telco but must have knowledge and a understanding of how data is now the future of our business and its importance in providing businesses the competitive advantage.
Role Description - Data Engineer
The Data Engineer is a new role within SSIT. This role will play a pivotal role in the planning, executing and delivering a new enterprise wide data analytics platform.
Main responsibilities for this role are:
1. Working closely with technology, business partners and data professionals to help design, architect and deploy a new scalable enterprise wide data analytics platform
2. Design, develop and maintain data pipelines in a DevOps operating model
3. Design and develop data pipelines catering to both structured and unstructured sources
4. Understand business requirements to develop new data pipelines

Experience
- Three to Five years of relevant experience in designing, testing and maintaining data warehouses and data marts
-Three to Five years of relevant experience in creating and maintaining complex ETL data pipelines
Knowledge and Skills
- Hands on experience with common coding languages such as Python, R, C#, C++, Java
- Hands on experience with common databases such as MS SQL and Oracle
- Hands on experience with cloud analytics platforms such as Azure, GCP, AWS and Snowflake
- Hands on experience with data integration via messaging, APIs and files
- Familiar with working in a Agile environment utilizing DevOp practices
- Strong collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to work across various business and technology functions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
