Database Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
• Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain automation scripts and IaC templates (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for database provisioning, configuration, and management.
• Data Migration and Integration: Plan and execute database migrations from on- premises to the cloud or between different cloud database services. Design and implement data integration solutions between various systems.
• On- call Support: Participate in on- call rotations and incident response for critical database systems.
• Design and Architecture: Design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Cloud Database Management: Provision, configure, manage, and monitor various cloud database services (e.g., RDS, NoSQL databases, OLAP database, search engines like elasticsearch, opensearch)
• Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain database security best practices, including access controls, encryption, data masking, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Collaboration and Support: Work closely with development teams to provide database design guidance, troubleshoot database- related issues, and optimize data access patterns.
• Mentorship and Guidance: Mentor junior database engineers and share best practices within the team.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. (or equivalent experience).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Excellent problem- solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of database security principles and best practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• 5+ years of experience as a database engineer or administrator, with at least 2+ years in cloud environments.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
• Hands- on experience with one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their database services.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with data migration tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and running databases in containerized environments.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
