**Job Overview**
We are seeking a skilled DevOps Database Engineer to join our infrastructure team. This role combines deep database expertise, especially in Oracle, with modern DevOps practices, focusing on automating, deploying, and managing robust Database- as- a- Service (DBaaS) platforms on Kubernetes in hybrid cloud environments.
As a DevOps Database Engineer, you’ll bridge database engineering and DevOps, specializing in automation, orchestration, and reliability of databases on Kubernetes. Your primary focus is to design, automate, and manage scalable DBaaS platforms, ensuring efficiency, security, and resilience.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Architecting, deploying, and administering databases, with a strong emphasis on Oracle, alongside PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, and other NoSQL systems.
- Implement Infrastructure- as- Code (Terraform, Pulumi), CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps practices to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead incident management and troubleshooting, and perform root- cause analyses for database- related issues.
- Support and automate database lifecycle management (provisioning, backups, scaling, patching, and upgrades).
- Ensure database availability, reliability, security, and performance through proactive monitoring, alerting, and optimization.
- Design, implement, and manage highly available, secure database platforms across on- premises, cloud, and Kubernetes environments.
- Collaborate closely with development, platform, and infra teams to deliver integrated database solutions.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new database technologies and tooling to maintain a cutting- edge platform stack.

**Requirements:**
- Practical exposure to virtualization (VMWare/Proxmox/HCI) and system troubleshooting.
- Sound understanding of UNIX/Linux internals, networking, load balancers (Nginx/HAProxy), and message/caching systems (Redis, RabbitMQ).
- 3+ years of experience in Database Engineering/Administration, with at least 2 years heavily focused on DevOps and automation.
- Experience with hybrid cloud infrastructure designs (approx. 70% on- premises, 30% multi- cloud).
- Practical knowledge of monitoring/observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Thanos).
- Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes for deploying and orchestrating databases (e.g., Operator frameworks, StatefulSets).
- Deep expertise inDBA (installation, migration, tuning, security, HA/DR).
- Strong automation skills using scripting/programming (Python, Go, Bash).
- Solid grasp of new/emerging data platforms, e.g., cloud- native DBaaS, managed big data stores, and database observability tools.
- Solid experience with Infrastructure- as- Code (Terraform, Pulumi), configuration management (Ansible), and GitOps workflows.
- Proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and distributed NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis).
**Preferred Qualities:**
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem- solving skills.
- Flexible to support maintenance windows, database patching, critical incidents, and OT when necessary.
