EHS Specialist (Night Shift)

JOB SUMMARY

To provide leadership and proactive EHS services that support Wanek business objectives

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Able to work with different functions within the company to ensure that EHS concerns are addressed adequately, within an acceptable time- frame.
Strictly enforce the permit to work program.
Advises employees, supervisors, and management on safe work practices and potential hazards.
Able to conduct EHS training.
Facilitate accident and near miss investigations.
Conduct routine assessments, inspections and audits: daily, weekly and non- routine to ensure all facilities comply with EHS regulations and policy
Assists EHS Manager with environment, health and safety issues through the implementation of EHS measures and programs, and safe systems of work.
Lead in emergency response.
Assist the EHS Manager in preparing technical and relevant reports for submission to the government.
Maintain metrics and KPIs
Perform sampling and monitoring activities where applicable.
Upholds regulatory compliance governmental regulations related to the environment, health and safety, and maintains records of related tasks where applicable.
Conduct routine inspection of fire protection equipment.
Prepares reports for submission to supervisors and management, which identify the potential hazard(s) and or department discrepancies found, and provides recommendations for control and compliance.
Participate in meeting, workshops, and conferences to keep abreast of emerging safety, health, and environmental issues.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

All matters pertaining to EHS at all Wanek facilities and operations

Education

Degree in Environment, Health and Safety or related applied science field

Experience

1 – 3 years related experience

Knowledge of:

Knowledgeable in Environmental, Health and Safety, and government regulations
Fire protection systems and compliance to fire regulations

Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the company
Is passionate about Health and Safety, with a desire to learn
Good English proficiency
Ability to work with a variable schedule (ie. Night shift, weekends, etc.)
Good PC Software skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point)

Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities

Physical Requirements:

Standing and walking frequently to different locations throughout the facility
Sitting for periods of time

Working Conditions:

Constant interaction with employees, supervisors, and management
Wear PPE when required
