Elementary Art Teacher

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection
 Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs, such as after school art club
 Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history
 Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress
 Maintains school standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive environment, in cooperation with the school administration
 Select and requisition instructional materials, tools, instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records
 Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting
 Knows the fundamentals and different approaches to drawing media technique
 Maintain professional competence through in- service education activities provided by the school and/or in self- selected professional growth activities
 Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
 Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration.
 Knows and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art
 Evaluate each student&039;s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepare progress reports
 Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students&039; work for the school and the community
 Understand the versatility of paints
 May sponsor exhibits from outside the school
 Provide individual and small- group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying artistic and language abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
 Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art
 Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in procedures of the school

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Able to pass local background check
Location: Yen Hoa- SPI
 Excellent oral and written skills
 Strong organizational skills
 Ability to interact collaboratively with students, parents, and administration
 Minimum BA in art or related experience
 Ability to work with students at all skill levels
 Confident and patient in leading a classroom of students
 Demonstrable knowledge of art curriculum and the ability to implement it
 Able to thrive working in a team environment.
 Evidence of enrollment in an accredited college/university in completing a state- approved teacher preparation program or have field experience
