POSITION SUMMARY
The Fire and Safety Engineer is responsible for fire and safety program plans and activities to ensure company employees are working in a safe and secure environment in accordance with best industry practices and Vietnamese law. This position is responsible for developing, establishing, implementing, and monitoring plant and Power Plant and O&M housing fire and safety procedures, policies, and manuals, including emergency response procedures. Monitors first aid and fire stations and supplies, performs plant walk- downs to observe safety practices, provides material for fire and safety meetings, and oversees the safety of plant staff. Consult with Operations and Maintenance personnel regarding fire and safety matters such as record keeping, safety reporting, emergency teams, and security procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Acts as a Fire Marshal under the provisions of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act (FPPA).
• Provide safety support to significant events and carry out tasks to implement operational plans during events.
• Proactively patrol and monitor the plant /housing to identify and rectify fire prevention and life safety issues.
• Coordinate the inspections of premises that require a license from Vietnam and local regulations to ensure fire safety.
• Undertake workplace inspections, report hazards and incidents, recommend solutions, and implement solutions or at least temporary measures to make areas or practices when necessary.
• Monitor fire and safety equipment and systems as well as general Hazard Management and work permit systems across the power plant and O&M housing.
• Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, specific analyses, evaluation reports, and workplace inspections to maintain safe housekeeping.
• Ensure the enforcement of Vietnamese fire prevention by- laws, the local Fire and Building Codes, the National Fire Code (where applicable), and other applicable codes and standards carry out these duties.
• Develop and prepare and review the procedures and information systems related to Fire Prevention programs and safety
• Conduct fire prevention inspections and enforce compliance with applicable fire regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department manager.
