We are scaling our delivery and e- commerce analytics platform Arches. We are growing fast in Vietnam. This role is based in Saigon working as a part of our US e- commerce analytics team.
Key Responsibilities
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal / Senior engineer with extensive experience in Ruby on Rails and a strong background in e- commerce and logistics technology. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience in Rails development (minimum 5+ years considered) and can help architect robust backend solutions, seamlessly integrating with our digital platform. Your proficiency in frontend development will shine as you craft engaging and responsive user interfaces, ensuring an exceptional user experience across devices.

Mentorship & Collaboration: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to mid- level engineers, foster a culture of code quality, and collaborate across cross- functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
Performance & Reliability: Establish and enforce best practices for implementation, maintenance and monitoring. Identify bottlenecks, keep code quality, coverage and follow established convention and qualification.
Development & Maintenance: Design, develop, test and refactor product features using Ruby on Rails. Propose and implement tasks and improvement ideas. Write clean, maintainable, and well- tested code following Ruby best practices and current project quality.
Improvement & Continuous Learning: Continuously learn about technical trends and industry best practices and apply them to the product. Measurement of effects for quality improvement and implementations.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience with Ruby foundations such as memory management, encapsulation, inheritance, common ActiveRecord query methods, ActionCable, ActionJob, concurrency and common design patterns.
Proven experience in Ruby on Rails development with at least 5+ years (prefer 8+ years) of experience along with a strong understanding of MVC architecture and best practices.
Proficiency in frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with expertise in at least one modern frontend framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
Experience designing scalable and fault- tolerant systems in Ruby.
Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and proficiency in writing efficient SQL queries.
Strong knowledge and experience with Metaprogramming in enterprise- level systems.
Experience building responsive and intuitive user interfaces, with a focus on usability and accessibility.
Strong problem- solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, with excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non- technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with or willingness to learn new skills and frameworks such as iOS, Android or React Native.
Experience having created or maintained CI/CD pipelines for the deployment of public- facing web applications.
Proficiency in a language other than Ruby such as TypeScript, Swift, Kotlin or similar.
Familiarity with the browser rendering lifecycle and website optimization.
Knowledge of advanced CSS concepts (e.g., grid, flexbox and animations).
