1)Identify, implement and continually evolve successful strategies that enable Company to work in partnership with our core supply base to minimize the impact of cost inflation on shoe prices
2)Assess Supplier capability and select suitable partners for Company to prioritize in their improvement planning
3)Manage the interface with suppliers on improvement initiatives, ensuring their ongoing commitment to the process
4)Recruit, develop and lead a team to appropriately support supplier improvement activity
5)Manage the successful delivery of production and value engineering work stream savings as part of an overall programme of sourcing and product development cost savings
6)Interface with key players in other business functions to drive cross functional improvement projects and deliver savings in the end to end business value stream
7)Research and develop opportunities to gain efficiency benefits through innovations in materials and manufacturing processes
8)Develop systems to enable the successful application of design for cost effective manufacturing
9)Establish and promote use of LEAN principles throughout the Sourcing Operations as an advocate of LEAN thinking and a respective mindset shift
10)Opportunities for cost saving identified, clear and consistent systems of work in place (including measurement systems), roadmap and timelines established for the roll out of the process, regular review of process alignment to Company strategic plans
11)Critical success factors identified, objective process for assessing supplier capability against these success factors, quantitative assessment and prioritization of improvement opportunities
12)Manage ongoing briefing and education of selected supplier business leaders to ensure their continued support for the CI process. Regularly review plans and KPI’s with key supplier stakeholders. Provide interface between supplier and Company to help negotiate the resolution of any problems in the commercial relationship
13)Clearly defined structure and job roles for a Company Value Engineering team, recruitment and training plans in place, process for ongoing education and knowledge sharing as both an internal and external motivator of value engineering principles and initiatives throughout the Company team and Company supply base
14)Project plans in place to align with targeted programme of cost savings, regular review of risks and opportunities across the plan, close collaboration with other workstream leads to ensure successful delivery of the overall plan
15)Value stream maps established for key business processes, Ongoing analysis and assessment of end to end cost saving opportunity, Active network of key functional decision makers to enable coordinated cross functional change, regular presentation of opportunities to executive team to enable effective strategic planning
16)Regular Innovation and Best Practice reviews with 1st and 2nd tier supply base. Systematic identification and prioritization of Value Engineering oriented process change needs, coordinated programme of R & D in place to meet identified needs using both Company and supplier resources
17)Work content based costing agreements with suppliers in place balanced with existing costing practices where relevant, SOP’s in place for critical operations, appropriate knowledge sharing on manufacturing practices with creative team to align designs to manufacturing SOP’s, effective design assessments in early stages of PD process that highlights any misalignment with product cost targets, systems for reviewing cost saving opportunities prior to style approval in place.
