* JOB OVERVIEW
EMASI Schools are seeking an International Program Science Teacher that will contribute to the established science foundations for students across the middle grades and high school. The candidate will enable students to successfully sit for Cambridge Checkpoint Science Examinations, participate in AP Science and be capable of teaching Cambridge IGCSE and A Level science subjects.
This teacher should be familiar with the MOET Science curriculum as this is integrated into the EMASI Science programme. The candidate will also be comfortable maximizing the use of the Makerspace to ensure that students benefit from an engaging and innovative teaching and learning experience.
In addition, to middle school Science teaching, this teacher&039;s responsibilities will also include AP Science, Cambridge IGCSE and A Level Science subjects.
This teacher should be comfortable with all science subjects, although, a candidate with advanced knowledge of Chemistry is desired. The teacher will foster strong scientific reasoning, argument, and writing skills in students whilst balancing instruction in Science.
As part of this role the teacher will manage the Physics, Chemistry, Biology laboratories most of the time, except for teaching periods. The expected teaching periods are maximum 15 periods/week.
* Responsibilities & Duties:
EMASI welcomes teachers who are relentless in their aim to see student growth and who want to hone their skills as effective teachers in the classroom. Below are some of the tasks required of teachers:
• Manage the equipment and chemicals in the laboratory, plan to purchase equipment, chemicals for teaching, keep safety for the laboratory.
• Use detailed data analysis of student performance to inform best practices
• Maintain the school culture of high academic and behavioral expectations through continuous reflection
• Continue to review the health and safety and risk assessments for the laboratories
• Embody the characteristics that the school wishes the students to uphold, especially respect, academic and personal excellence, global understanding
• Make reports relevant to equipment, chemicals, ... when required.
• Assist in student arrival and departure, transitions between class periods, and lunch periods
• Prepare and clean before and after the experiments, support other teachers in experiment time, guide students to participate in scientific research.
• Reinforce school- wide rules and expectations in the classroom and lesson planning
• Document all syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and other curricular materials
• Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families and colleagues
• Assist in the design and implementation of research- based curriculum
• Work closely with the Managing Director, Co- Heads of Secondary, Administrative and Examinations Coordinator, Science Lead, MOET and IP staff, Secondary Counsellor and others to develop and implement strategies for all students to reach success in IP and MOET Science subjects
• Complete other tasks as assigned by the Managing Director of School, Co- Heads of Secondary or Science Lead
