Position Overview:
The 1:1 TA is responsible for a student during the course of the academic year. Should that student leave or no longer require services during the year, the 1:1 may serve as a general LS TA for the rest of the year and perform the duties as outlined in the job description for a LS TA.
A Learning Support 1:1 Teaching Assistant assists Learning Support (LS) Teachers in implementing and supporting learning experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, and social development of students within a safe and healthy learning environment.
The role of the 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA) is to support an individually assigned student in whatever ways are deemed necessary to help the student access the curriculum and develop identified social skills in accordance with the student’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with the support of the Learning Support teacher/case manager.
Responsibilities:
● Support:
- Communicate regularly with the case manager and student’s family when appropriate
- Assist in instructing the student in a variety of designated settings in a way that demonstrates a strong knowledge of the assigned student
- Other tasks as assigned by the School
- Assist with tracking and supporting the student as needed during instructional and non- instructional times
- Use appropriate strategies to support the student’s learning in class/lessons according to needs as agreed with the family, Student Support Team (SST) and class teacher
- Take initiative in carrying out tasks or seeking information
- Engage regularly with the class/subject teacher

- Establish a climate in which teachers and students are engaged with each other and students feel secure to take risks with their learning
- Develop respectful relationships among children and adults within a climate of trust that promotes peaceful solutions to problems
- Foster interactions with and between students that are both caring and respectful in an environment of high learning expectations

Education/qualification
● Teaching Certificate preferred
● University degree
Experience
● Experience in an educational setting, preferably in an international learning environment where English is the primary language of instruction/communication
● Experience working with younger students with academic, social- emotional or emotional challenges an asset

Please note, at this time UNIS Hanoi is seeking 1:1 LS TAs for a Service Agreement until the end of this Academic year, with the possibility of transitioning to a Labour contract starting from the next Academic year.
