Job Description
Summary Description
This position reports to the District Manager.
To create and add value to the District Management Team by developing and executing strategic plans, knowing and implementing industry best practices, engaging with customers on business development, working in partnership with Service Providers and Carriers and nurturing the next general leaders.
To grow the road & domestic transportation, white glove delivery, project and energy services business for the District through focus in the areas of Operations, Business Development, Finances and People in adherence to the company’s culture, policy and procedures.
Responsibilities & Duties
Operations & Systems
Manage and ensure compliance to Expeditors and Customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), including coordinating and managing SOP revisions.
Evaluate Service Providers at defined intervals per company policy, focusing on areas of performance, discipline, compliance, security, safety, improvements and corrective action plans where needed.
Oversee and manage the Transcon, Project and Energy Services Department.
Proactively monitor exception reports to ensure Expeditors is meeting key event milestones within the life of a shipment.
Closely liaise operations with Regional counterpart to ensure alignment.
Responsible for daily activities include relevant project operations planning, activity coordinating, risk assessment, reporting and being “boots on the ground”.
Regular communication with Regional counterpart and District Manager.
Have a fundamental understanding of Expeditors operational systems, including ETMS.
Actively sourcing for new Service Providers, including Truckers, Breakbulk Carriers and others.
Oversee and manage Service Providers’ performances.
Extract reports to track and monitor Department, Shipment and People’s productivity performance and trends.
Business Development
Respond to requests for proposal, quotation or information timely and with market competitive pricing matching the scope of service required by the customer.
Responsible for maintaining the agreed upon scope of services
Actively develop business through active involvement, including fronting the customers, in sales and retention process and close coordination with Sales & Account Management Department, as per company and branch’s objectives
Take an active role in the transition of new business/updates to existing business
Responsible to provide latest developments in market, including border congestion, regulatory, legal provisions and others.
Responsible for identifying and defining realistic service needs and measurements
Pro- actively provide pricing alternatives, routing solutions and technical assistance to internal and external customers.
Finance
Ensure any contracts with Customer and Service Providers are reviewed in accordance to company contract policies prior to being signed.
Assists District Manager with preparation of the Department budget.
Review Department financial P&L.
Prepares and executes the tactical business plan for the Department.
Manage accounts payable to Service Providers.
Ensure that productivity and profitability goals for the Transcon department are met
Ensure company credit procedures are followed and utilized effectively.
Make sure billing process is completed and on time. Manage account receivables.
People
Identify and develop your No. 2 for succession planning.
Proactively promote company’s culture.
Guide and develop team members. Show them a career, not just a job.
Conduct employee appraisals timely with proper documentation.
