Back in 2004—long before “SaaS” was even a buzzword—we quietly reshaped the food service industry. Our app (then called MyRecipes) gave professional chefs in New Zealand the ability to cost recipes in minutes and get accurate nutrition data—something that had previously been slow, error- prone, and frankly, a headache.
We didn’t set out to make headlines (though we did). For us, this was just the start of a mission: to give food professionals the tools they actually need, not the ones the industry thinks they should settle for.
Twenty years on, with loyal users who still swear by us, we’re scaling our platform globally. Our focus? Using cutting- edge tech to make things even smarter, faster, and more effortless. We know exactly what we’re doing—and we’re looking for someone exceptional to help us do it.
Who We’re Opening the Door To
This isn’t just about skills. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, communicates well, and cares about solving real problems. If you’re just looking for a job, this isn’t it. If you’re ready to be part of a product with a legacy and a future, keep reading.
Our team is small, sharp, and focused. But right now, we’re ready to bring in a strong Python backend developer—ideally with experience in machine learning—who can not only write great code but also think with us, challenge us, and help us deliver what the world’s chefs don’t even realise is possible yet.
What You’ll Need to Bring
A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
Sharp analytical and problem- solving abilities.
A solid background in Python backend development (RESTful or FastAPI).
A working knowledge of lightweight ML (classification, recommendation, clustering) and how to actually ship it.
Experience in agile environments—understanding the principles, not just repeating them.
What You’ll Actually Do
Build, train, and integrate lightweight ML models into production APIs.
Design and maintain robust services with Python.
Work directly with product and design teams to refine requirements into something that works in the real world.
Streamline data flows and API performance.
Collaborate with DevOps for smooth deployments and monitoring.
Write clean, efficient, documented code that doesn’t need endless explanation.
Test what matters (unit + integration for critical paths).
This isn’t a “come build something from scratch and hope it works” role. We already have traction, legacy, and users who rely on us. The question is—are you good enough to help us take it further?
