Mold Design

- Create the 2D/3D drawings:
+ Create 2D drawing.
+ Create the 2D/3D files follow requirements.
+ Measure products, mold inserts and model them on 3D software.
- Mold construction design:
+ Simulations by software in order to define the risks as well as estimate the issues before carry out to mold design.
+ Follow up times lines & communicate if any delays.
+ Do the DFM for repair/ modification molds.
+ Issue the 2D/3D mold processing drawing to KEW for machining process.
+ Conduct internal mold design review meeting.
+ Issue the 2D files and part list component for Mold assembly team to check and assembly the mold.
+ Analyze and take decision on molds troubleshooting (production and new molds).
+ Define mold design concepts, select shrinkage and PEG.
+ Do the mold construction for new mold.
- Get quotation for mold base, components ...:
+ Check the quality and quantity of the part component.
+ Get quotation and Negotiate prices with supplier.
+ Prepare the part and component list.
+ Follow up suppliers, communication well with suppliers to make sure requirements for the mold base/ components are following up.
- Measurement:
+ Do measurements reports …
+ Support Engineering department to measure the product/ mold when requested.
- Other tasks:
+ Attend Mold trial with injection team & check if any concerns during sampling.
+ Analysis test report, If require to modify mold and communicate time lines.
- Following special tasks given from Supervisor/ Manager.

- Define mold design concepts, select shrinkage and PEG.
- Analyze and take decision on molds troubleshooting (production and new molds).
- Understand all the functions of a mold, the way it is manufactured and know how to design and layout and select the materials accordingly.
- Understand mold main functions and create 2D with dimensions and tolerances based on 3D supplied.
- Know how to select the proper tool for each measure, use it in an accurate way and create fully documented metrology reports.
- SOFTWARE: NX Mold Design (advanced); Rhino 2D plus basic surfacing/sketch functions; advanced SolidWorks; basic Mold Flow simulation (if software available).
- Handle special technology molds.
- Design in autonomy complex molds including sliders or lifters (3D + 2D) based on concept supplied by Supervisor.
- Follow up suppliers, develop them and prospect for new technologies.
