PCBA/SMD Component Engineer (Assistant Manager Up)

Job summary
Components Engineer to support the selection, qualification, lifecycle management, and obsolescence mitigation of electronic and electromechanical components used in PCBA and system- level assemblies. The ideal candidate will work cross- functionally with design engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure component compliance, cost optimization, and long- term availability.

Job descriptions
• Maintain component library and lifecycle database (e.g., using SiliconExpert, IHS, or internal tools).
• Maintain and enforce standard component qualification and documentation processes in compliance with internal and industry standards.
• Evaluate, select, and approve alternate and equivalent electronic/mechanical components in accordance with engineering specifications and design intent.
• Assist in component failure analysis and corrective actions in collaboration with Quality and Reliability Engineering.
• Coordinate with suppliers to obtain component data sheets, PCNs (Product Change Notifications), PPAP, and qualification reports.
• Collaborate with sourcing and supply chain to mitigate long lead- time or high- risk components through AVL expansion and design- for- availability strategies.
• Manage End- of- Life (EOL) notices and propose form- fit- function (FFF) replacements or redesign plans.
• Support product development and sustaining teams with component selection, de- rating analysis, environmental compliance (RoHS, REACH), and sourcing.
• Support DFM/DFx activities by recommending cost- effective and readily available components during the design phase.

Required Qualifications:
• Familiarity with IPC standards, JEDEC specifications, and electronic component reliability screening.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in component engineering, electronics manufacturing, or a related role.
• Understanding of environmental regulations and compliance certifications (RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals).
• Experience with PLM systems (e.g., Agile, Arena, Windchill) and ERP integration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
• Excellent problem- solving, cross- functional communication, and analytical skills.
• Experience with component lifecycle management and obsolescence tools (e.g., SiliconExpert, Z2Data).
• Strong knowledge of electronic component types: passive, active, electromechanical, interconnects, and semiconductors.
• Ability to interpret schematics, BOMs, datasheets, and technical drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes, DFM, and supply chain logistics.
• Ability to work in a fast- paced environment managing multiple priorities.
• Experience working in high- mix, low- to- medium volume EMS or OEM environments.
• Exposure to FMEA, reliability testing (HALT/HASS), and FA tools (X- ray, SEM/EDX, etc.).
• Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.

Note
• Probation period: The probation period is 2 months, during which the employee will receive 85% of the salary. Insurance will be provided from the start of the probation period.
• Overtime: For positions from Manager to Deputy Division Manager, no overtime pay will be provided, and overtime will not be compensated with time off.
• Position: The role is open for candidates ranging from Assistant Manager to Deputy Division Manager, depending on the salary level.
• Working hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, from Monday to Saturday, with a standard of 26 working days per month.
• Annual bonus: Based on the annual announcement by BOD.
• Salary for Vietnamese: Negotiable (The company is prepared to offer a competitive and attractive salary matching the candidate’s experience and competencies.)
• Free daily shuttle bus from Hanoi to the factory
• Reporting to: The position will report directly to the Division Manager and Division Director.
