JOB BRIEF:
The Procurement Supervisor – Technical Category is responsible for overseeing the sourcing, procurement, and management of technical equipment, components, and services. This role ensures the timely acquisition of high- quality technical materials at optimal costs while maintaining compliance with company policies and industry standards. The supervisor leads a team of procurement specialists, coordinates with technical departments, and develops strategic procurement plans to support organisational objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate closely with technical, engineering, and operational teams to understand technical specifications and requirements.
• Prepare procurement reports and analyse data to facilitate decision- making and continuous improvement.
• A Develop and implement procurement strategies for technical categories to ensure cost- effectiveness and quality.
• Maintain and update procurement documentation, including procurement plans, reports, and records.
• Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance and support for their development.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to delivery, quality, or contractual obligations.
• Ensure procurement activities adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
• Evaluate and qualify suppliers based on quality, delivery, cost, and compliance criteria.
• Manage procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiation, purchase order issuance, and contract management.
• Conduct market research to stay informed about new products, technological advancements, and industry trends.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• Proven experience (at least 3 years) in procurement, preferably within technical or engineering categories.
• Ability to analyse market trends and supplier capabilities.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Understanding of technical specifications, engineering drawings, and standards.
• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• Leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
