Your Job:
The Production Engineer I supports our factory partners throughout the production process. You partner with factory teams to ensure products coming off the line meet our consumers’ ‘’Fit Feel & Ride’’ expectations. Communication and cooperation are key attributes as you work with Brooks QA and factory production teams to resolve issues that arise in production. And, you support our commercialization and development teams in bringing new models to life.
Additionally, you will be responsible for providing input and feedback to development, commercialization, Lean, and engineering teams on how to improve our products. You will lead projects, managing related factory trials, and ensuring that product and process changes are executed properly. As new models enter the factory, you will work closely with Brooks and factory engineering and production teams to ensure a smooth transition from commercialization to production while providing expertise to the QA team in confirming the product.
Your Responsibilities:
· Assist Brooks and factory teams with upper pattern, upper molds and tooling concerns for production starting from first round sample production, ensuring that the product meets or exceeds Brooks standards for manufacturing.
· Confirm production is meeting or exceeding Brooks standards and that the PFC (“Process Flow Chart”) is being followed
· Communicate and collaborate with QA and production teams daily to maintain product integrity in production. Be hands-on with the product with factory partners.
· Review lab test results daily and respond immediately to any quality issues.
· Use engineering skills to troubleshoot and improve manufacturing methods and processes.
· Support factory production and troubleshoot and resolve problems that arise.
· Document best practices for the defined technology and manage the proliferation of the process documentation with all affected locations.
· Other duties as required.
· Perform standard commercialization checks to ensure product is manufactured according to approved product specifications, including functional and aesthetic performance specifications.
· Collaborate with Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers on new products and troubleshooting.
· Review and confirm, in conjunction with factory’s mold engineers and factory production teams, all production tooling.
· Manage trials and ensure the products meet Brooks ‘’fit feel & ride’’ expectations.
· Provide solutions to issues as they arise during production, design, and development.
· Work with Development, Commercialization, Lean, and Engineering teams to ensure all materials physical properties and function meet Brooks requirements.
· Lead and manage multiple projects in the footwear manufacturing environment, from pre-production all the way through to a model’s launch in production.
Qualifications:
· Basic knowledge of footwear production process.
· Fluent English communication skills (both speaking and writing). Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from their counterparts at US headquarters, cross-functional colleagues, factory partners, etc
· Passionate participation in Brooks’ sports activities a plus, overridden by the ability to understand and empathize with the runner to develop loyal, engaging relationships with our customers and the Brooks community.
· Embraces and lives the Brooks values and Run Happy attitude.
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
· Preferably hold a degree in a post-secondary discipline (ex. Associate degree, B.A, etc); chemical/engineering background is an advantage.
· Being detail-oriented and multi-tasking
· 5+ years experience in the Footwear industry with 3+ years experience in Footwear commercialization.
· Effective communication, organizational skills and willingness to work in a team-oriented environment.
