Project Officer for Green Digital Transformation of Wood Processing SMEs

• Other project management and corporate focal point function (focal point for corporate health management, records management, security focal point, participation in working groups, etc.) as needed
• Strategic communication to donors, network partners, beneficiaries, and the general public
• Communicating closely with our ministry partner to align on activities, timelines, selection criteria
• Monitoring and evaluation of activities, specifically for helping SMEs measure energy and resource consumption
• Strategic partnership development on wood processing and other topics of sustainable economic development
• Handling procurement and invoicing according to GIZ regulations
• Designing activities for SME sensitization, SME trainings, Train- The- Trainer, and other forms of technical assistance for wood processing SMEs
• Procuring and managing contractors to deliver the designed activities
• Conceptually linking wood processing to energy efficiency, sustainable energy usage, circular economy and other forms of sustainable resource usage
• Knowledge management within GIZ Viet Nam, regional GIZ offices, the GIZ headquarters as well as outside the GIZ on the topic of climate- neutral wood processing technologies
• Establishing and promoting regional as well as German- Vietnamese digital SME networks, organizing and facilitating learning journeys (regionally and internationally) on the topic of technologies for wood processing SMEs
• Setting up and managing SME digitalization support programs for wood processing SMEs
• Implementing daily operational aspects of all issues related to technology for wood processing SMEs
• Technical advice and organizational development for wood processing SMEs in the field of digitalization
• Ensuring operations planning is on track and managing the project implementation
• Advising on technology usage to help SMEs achieve business outcomes (reduced costs, efficiency gains) and climate goals (circular economy, energy efficiency, etc.)

• Experience in developing digital transformation roadmaps for wood processing enterprises
• Experience in linking business outcomes (reduced costs, efficiency gains) with climate goals (climate- neutrality, reducing energy and resource usage via data management)
• Experience in communications and employee engagement linked to the adoption of wood processing solutions
• Experience in setting up, maintaining and monitoring carbon accounting systems and systems to monitor resource systems (such as energy, waste management systems, etc.)
• Willingness to travel (abroad and domestically) regularly
• Knowledge on current local and regional developments in the fields of technologies, solutions, as well as cost- benefit analysis for wood processing SMEs
• Good knowledge of the digital transformation landscape in Vietnam
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
• Experience managing external IT vendors
• Managerial and organisational competence
• Bachelor’s degree in technology of forest product processing, furniture and wood technology, sustainable wood engineering technology, environmental science, digital transformation, computer science, or equivalent with at least 5 years working in the field of wood processing (advanced furniture wood processing experience is preferred)
• Experience in implementing technologies for wood processing businesses in Vietnam, such as designing and implementing digital transformation projects (e.g. IT solutions, Automation, IoT, SCADA, etc.)
• Experience in conducting energy audits and environmental impact assessments for manufacturing companies
• Experience in developing strategies, setting up and executing transformation initiatives in wood processing SMEs
• Experience working with international donors is a plus
• Very good knowledge of Vietnamese and English, German is a plus
