Project Overview:
The Tourism for Ethnic Minority Women (T4EMW) initiative under GREAT 2 leverages tourism as a driver for the socio- economic development and empowerment of ethnic minority women (EMW). Through a Market Systems Development (MSD) approach, the program partners with the government, private sector, and local communities to design and implement sustainable tourism solutions.
Position Overview:
The Provincial Support Officer will assist the Team Leader, Community Outreach Specialist, and Business Outreach Specialist in project activities within their assigned province. This role involves providing administrative, logistical, and coordination support to ensure smooth implementation of project activities, including community engagement, private sector collaboration, and monitoring progress. The Provincial Support Officer will serve as a local point of contact for stakeholders and help foster relationships with provincial authorities, local communities, and businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination and Support
· Assist in planning and coordinating project activities at the provincial level, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
· Maintain updated records of project activities, schedules, and stakeholder engagements within the province.
· Provide logistical support for meetings, workshops, training sessions, and field visits, including arranging venues, transportation, and materials.
Community Engagement Support
· Work closely with the Community Outreach Specialist to organize and facilitate consultations, focus groups, and community meetings.
· Serve as a liaison between the project team and local communities to ensure effective communication and trust- building.
· Support collecting data from local communities through surveys, interviews, and other tools to inform project design and implementation.
Private Sector Collaboration Support
· Assist the Business Outreach Specialist in engaging local businesses and investors, including scheduling meetings and facilitating introductions.
· Help identify potential opportunities for private sector investment in tourism initiatives within the province.
· Support market research activities, including gathering data from local businesses and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Relations
· Address concerns or challenges stakeholders raise and escalate issues to the appropriate project team members when necessary.
· Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, local businesses, and government representatives, to ensure effective collaboration.
· Act as a local point of contact for provincial authorities, ensuring alignment of project activities with government priorities and gaining necessary approvals.
Monitoring and Reporting
· Monitor the progress of project activities within the province and provide regular updates to the Team Leader.
· Contribute to preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
· Document key project activity observations, challenges, and successes to inform reporting and decision- making.
Location:
Based in the assigned province (Lao Cai or Son La), with frequent travel to project sites and occasional travel to other provinces as required.
