R&D Engineer

Participate in problem- solving activities related to products.
Effectively capture cost reduction opportunities and determine the impact on product lines and the business.
Build prototypes and validate designs, coordinate builds effectively with plants, and document build results.
Manage projects that require strong cross- functional engagement. Facilitate team building.
Initiate and assist with ongoing cost improvement projects focused on improving the cost and quality of current product lines. This may include redesigned or enhanced designs, materials, or process- related projects.
Design and develop products to meet the requirements of customers and/or marketing and sales. Implement the "voice of the customer" effectively in the development of upcoming products.
Ensure product- related standardization is carried out by global standards, where appropriate.
Facilitate the introduction of newly developed or modified materials to the product line and provide technical support data to Marketing to create a compelling sales story.
Interface with customers as required to solve customer field/engineering problems and present creative ideas.
Make oral and written presentations (i.e., monthly status reports)
Provide Bills of Materials and Engineering Change Orders to support the development of new products or continuous improvement efforts.
Issue product specifications to match product construction or in support of other departments.

Education
Graduated from a good university with an Engineering major, in technical and 3D design.
Experience
Minimum of two years’ experience in product design/development. Upholstery Furniture experience preferred.
Knowledge of:
Upholstery furniture, 3D drawing, fabric, or leather material.
