R&D Specialist (Printing)

Perform other jobs as assigned by the line manager.
Understanding of press sheet size/run direction/spot colors
Estimate product cost and provide the best solutions for production method and material to meet the required COGS or gross margin of product.
Collaborate with Design/NPD to ensure proper development of new designs and provide training/education on new capabilities and color expectations.
Research, study, learn the designs of competitor’s products, and cooperate with the suppliers to propose printing technology plans/ technical production methods for new product development and production.
Ensure quality, optimization and accuracy of finalized files submitted to Production by the Design team.
Understanding of print production including imposition / sheet run size / printer spreads / creep / cutting / binding, etc.
Assist in troubleshooting quality and color issues and implement corrective actions.
Be an SME/participant in continuous improvement projects
Proceed the suitable tests, be able to effectively document and communicate test and measurement results. Proficiency in writing detailed technical reports based on design verification and testing for product development activities.
Continue developing and updating department Standard Work Instructions as it relates to print quality and color management.

Familiarity with Automation Engines, Digital Front End (DFE) and HP Indigo Digital Presses preferred.
Have a firm understanding of printing technologies.

Have a firm understanding of machinery and equipment in the printing and packaging industry.

Understanding of manufacturing and new product development processes.
Ability to learn quickly, work under pressure, and adopt new technologies in a fast- paced environment.
Working English level (~ TOEIC 500+)
Have experience with bringing projects from concept through design and production.
Bachelor&039;s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD software (Rhino, AutoCAD).
At least 2 years of experience in Pre- Press in the printing industry.
