JOB SUMMARY
This position is for a full time research assistant who will perform laboratory based studies investigating the role of the immune response during dengue virus infection. He/she will work with human blood samples derived from dengue patients. This project involves the use of standard immunological assays such as ELISA, Luminex, ELISPOT and Flow cytometry, as well as PCR. Additional responsibilities will include careful record keeping and blood sample processing. A successful candidate may be asked to contribute to laboratory management, ordering and budget tracking. The job may include some weekend work.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to and optimise SOPs, workflows, databases, and manage data input/output
- Liaise with members of different teams and within the dengue group to coordinate sample processing
- Assist with data entry, data cleaning and data analysis
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts
- Help to establish systems for transfer, analysis and reporting of laboratory specimens.
- Work on dengue group immunology studies using ELISA, Luminex, ELISpot, western blots, PCR and other platforms
- Work under the direction of OUCRU investigators to ensure the successful delivery of the research studies of the dengue group
- Attend and participate actively in lab and group meetings, and attend the OUCRU academic meetings
- Follow study protocols and relevant procedures including those for laboratory samples, data collection and immunology studies

This post is based at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.
HOURS OF WORK
Full time. 37.5 hours per week, extra hours may be required
TENURE
Initially for one year, including a 2 month probation period, with possibility of extension for 3 years
